I agree, the umpires should be consistent, but we know they aren't. Some of it is a judgement call and sometimes they get it wrong. Everyone has their job to do. Players do not have time to call their own lines, make sure the match is officiated properly and worry about their opponent. These are the pros, where everything is supposed to be done for you. All you need to do is play. By the way, what Nads did wasn't necessary. He took it upon himself to award his opponent a first serve. That was a judgement call by the umpire.

P.S. I'm not saying the doubs team shouldn't have been DQ. I'm saying it was the umpire's job to do it, period.
Agreed...umpires aren't consistent. I was just reacting to AP, who called out the other team for arguing for the DQ. They were not the villains in this. And the umpire DID make the call, albeit with a bit of argument from the other side. He also could have told them to shut up and move on, but he decided the offense was actually egregious enough for a DQ. Actually, isn't it the tournament director who declares the DQ? Anyway, I don't think our arguments are that far different.

Thanks for the weather advice for Cinncy, I dont remember it being so rainy
No, usually it's hot and humid. It's actually very mild today...just rainy. It's been kind of a rainy August in a lot of this part of the US, plus unusually mild.

Looks like they're back on court. Boy, you know who's not going to be happy about the schedule? Djokovic and Monfils.

Wow...that was a long wait for a short slide, but Carlitos gets it done.

Their match is “not before 8:30” so it wouldn’t have begun anyway, but if the next match is long it could become a problem.

You do realize that Carlitos is 15-5 this year in tbrs..
BTW, how is he gonna to practice TBrs
I wasnt happy with his performance today in his TB without winning a point, also his BP conversion stunk i n the TB
Practice makes Perfect!
I expect a better all round performance from Charly when he takes on Aussie Max Mullet Purcell in his next match, help me if he loses, looking at you Stan Wawrinka

He needs to practice how to play on BP's. If he has a better BP conversion, the TB (where every point is effectively a BP) will take care of itself. Normally he's money in the TB's. But everyone could use practice on how to play BP's or the big points.

Small miracles, Monfils survived his first service game vs Novak without being broken.

To the Frenchman: “Repeat to self- NOBODY beats Gael Monfils 19 straight times.”

Allez Monfils!!
he just needs to rinse and repeat

Gael breaks himself, quite frankly the level of tennis today has been sub par
