Big win for Nadal because if he is number two seed, there’s a chance Alcaraz lands in Medvedev’s half at US Open.

If he’s the 3 seed, he completely avoids Alcaraz but there’s a 50/50 chance he lands at Medvedev or Zverev (which is the ideal draw) half.

I think Carlos is going through a hard learning stage now. It’s not always a neat curve upwards to the top. He’s losing matches I wouldn’t have expected him to lose, before RG, but since then he’s come up short against top players.

Rafa, to me, is also gonna have to earn it in New York. He’s got no matches under him at all going in. I don’t think the Coric match is enough.

As for the two semis in Cinci, they’re good matches! Norrie is an honest player and I won’t be surprised if he makes the final. I love Medvedev Tsitsipas matches because they hate each other on a level not seen since Connors and Lendl. Obviously, Medvedev is favourite, and I also hope he wins…

Hey Kieran,

I agree with your thoughts with Carlos going through a hard learning stage at present, I feel he needs to play more 'percentage tennis' during some critical points in matches, it was obvious today in the match against Norrie, he tends to want to play 'winners all the time' where it is not needed.I am certain his coach JCF is aware, Carlos is a good pupil of the game and a very special and talented young man.

just an observation from me about Coric's game he does not seem as 'mechanical', he appears to play looser? maybe he has been working on his game, on his comeback to the tour, maybe Don Fabio can shed some light on this as well, if he agree's with me or not?
Hi MM, I can't tell about his game because I haven't watched him after return to tour. What I can see is that he is playing some insane percentages. For example he didn't lose a single point on his serve in 2nd set against Musetti. Also yesterday against FAA he won 31 out of 32 points on his first serve. Those are some unbelievable numbers.

He had time to think about his tennis during time off. He had a lot of problems in his career where he struggled against easier opponents and come out as a loser. He was definitely too passive and relying too much on his defense. Maybe he plays here a perfect balance of offense and defense and it pays off. He is kind of player like Djokovic, but a light version of it. He does not have any big weapon except his serving can be really huge for not a tall guy. As you know, tennis is a game of fine margins and any small changes can make a big difference to results. Add to that boosted confidence level and you have a guy in semis of a Masters with a good chance to reach a final.

Coric will be a tough cookie to chew for anyone in this USO.

His serve has really been a strength in his matches, his serving against FAA was impressive, from memory he did not face a BP in his match earlier today.Considering he has had shoulder surgery and coming back on the tour, his serve has been outstanding, a real testament to him!

That’s the truth. He’s playing at a high panel and he’s mentally solid. He’s peaking at the right time. He could be seeded for the USO by the time Cinci is dispatched to history..

Haven't seen that one yet, but is it possible that you missed Karatsev's kit earlier today? Because that one, from the back, was atrocious.
Yeah, I saw that one, but like you said from the back only. Diego's whole kit was terrible.

Does anyone know when this Insane Coaching Trial for the ATP will end.I hope it is over for the USO.
The Young Greek's dad was having a field day when his son was playing against Isner earlier, then again he does it before this Trial Coaching was allowed.
Hmm, I think not until the end of the season. Sorry, baby-bubba

I'm so happy Borna is back w/ ferocity. I haven't seen all his matches this week, but saw the decider against Nads. His game is in a really good place and he could give lessons to players returning from a year off the tour.

Saw most of Carlito's match. I don't normally agree w/ Courier but he and Jason made a great observation last night. What will his game look like going forward? Will he learn to temper his shots on the big points or will he continue to play that aggressive style of pushing the envelope? It's a fascinating question and will be fantastic viewing no matter what he chooses.

I agree, he needs to play more percentage tennis at times, on big shots, evident in his match against Norrie

Medvedev will now serve to force a t/breaker in the 1st set against The Young Greek 5-6

Borna Coric has a break in the 2nd set and leads 4-2 over Cam Norrie,Coric did have a slow start early in the 1st set, though has found his serve and ground shots and his playing well.

Looks as if Cam used up all his luck against Alcaraz yesterday! He's going down in flames down a set & a break in the 2nd! It's over! :astonished-face: :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

High quality t/break that had momentum changes, The Young Greek using his slice bhand, drop shots and serve volley tactics, he has The Poo as another coach nowa part from Dad, Meddy had enough and came back, then out of no where he dumped his fhand which found the net.
The Young Greek wins the 1st set 76(6) a very tight set of tennis

Congratulations to Borna Coric making his second Masters 1000 final defeating Cam Norrie 63 64, he had to play qualifers to get into the main draw.
After a slow start early in the 1st set, Coric found his serve and ground shots and is the first player in the final he will play either Medvedev or The Young Greek

Well deserved Borna!
