I doubt this cake is gluten free. Poor Novak probably didn't even get a slice. No tennis pun intended.

Na Li v Djokovic exhibition match. Not great quality I'm afraid.

Thanks for the link, Iona. They're both charming entertainers, and he was being a gentleman about it. BTW, I'm pretty sure that he could eat all but the small blue part on top...I'd bet the rest is cardboard, which I think is gluten free. :D

Now don't go ruining my cake fantasy Moxie.

I agree they're both excellent entertainers. I always find Na Li really funny in her press conferences. Djokovic is a just a natural in these type of events. With some players you can tell they're trying to be funny and it can feel a little forced. Any exo that features Djokovic or Roddick will be funny. You can't beat those two in my opinion.

Sorry...I work in the smoke-and-mirrors business. Didn't mean to spoil the fun! Yes, Djokovic and Roddick are amongst the funniest. And I think Li Na is the most hilarious of the women. Her English is good, but not THAT good, so I figure that's gotta be a big personality to leak across the language barrier so well. Just imagine how funny she must be in Chinese.

Roddick has natural humor (a bit like Agassi). Djokovic, puts in a huge effort but....

I don't think you need to even be partisan on this one...Djokovic has a natural showman in him. Agassi is endearing, and he's a good actor, but I wouldn't say he's funny, esp. like Roddick. Roddick is witty, when he's not too snarky, and I think Murray is very funny, in a really dry way.

It is widely known how hard Djokovic tries to be funny (attempting to imitate people inaccurately). His try-hard reputation is deeply rooted. Actual comedic ability is best tested by the interviews (the player has the option of treating post-match interviews like stand-up comedy when he wants to), and that is why I'd give Agassi's humor about 8/10, Roddick 6/10, Djokovic I can't even remember him saying one funny thing 0/10. Also the funniest exhibition performance I've ever seen was Agassi's non-stop joking at the 2010 Hit For Haiti. Agassi has natural humor in all environments. Anyway let me be the first to comment on the China Open tennis tournament. I think we'll see some surprises. It is common to see players suddenly appear out-of-form just after the US Open. Often the player forced his way through the US Open despite being injured (Murray, is one we know for sure this year, as he is now in hospital). So you'll see those injuries becoming more of a factor than they were during the US Open. And sometimes the players who suffered early exits at Wimbledon and/or the US summer events are physically fresher and cash in during the post-US Open events. China Open will provide some of the first indications of which players are trending one way or the other. Not an easy tournament to predict.

Well, thanks, FF. How very guy-ish and wonk-ish of you that you feel the need to differentiate. :p

lol, sorry. If you recall I think I mentioned to you(in private) I was in the packaging business for years as a sales rep. Long story made short, I made the mistake the first day in training when I mentioned to the VP I was excited about selling "cardboard". The VP squeezed my arm and sternly said "it's corrugated and don't you forget it!" LOL. That never left me and every time I see the term I can't help but explain, lol. :p

Looks like we could potentially see a Djokovic-Wawrinka quarterfinal match up.

Also, Nadal has to reach the final or Djokovic not win the title to become world number one on October 7, 2013.

Another "drama" match...can't wait to see that, hope he'll happen

Hope Davydenko makes semi. But most likely Berdych. Nadal has won 14 in a row over Berdych, but it'd be great to tie the h2h with Davydenko.

Wawrinka and Novak are playing doubles together. We get to see if it'll enhance their match up or Novak gets used to Stan and own his face from now on.

I like this draw. Neither Djokovic nor Nadal are guaranteed locks for the finals which should make for an interesting tournament. If Wawrinka is ever going to beat Novak again, the odds are it's likely to happen in a best of 3 match given how much Stan invested in AO and USO and still came up short in the end with the pattern in both matches being very similar - Stan with all guns blazing from the get-go and very close to be 2-0 up in sets on both occasions only to be denied by Nole who steadily crawls his way back into the match and eventually wears him down till the bitter end. So this time it's actually a good opportunity for Stan to finally get that win over him. At least in theory.

As for Nadal, his matches with Kohlschreiber are always highly competitive and entertaining. I'm also curious about a potential QF with Haas. Tommy on his day can be a tough nut to crack on Indoors. That said, Hewitt-Haas should be an intriguing battle of veterans and I'm looking forward to it. One simply doesn't know how much longer we are going to get to see them. In case Nadal makes it, for the sake of an interesting semi, I hope it's Isner. I enjoy watching Berdych Indoors when his game is in full flow but he's just hopeless against Nadal who can exploit and punish his weaknesses like no other. All things considererd, it's a great field with nice storylines for a 500 event.

Wawrinka and Novak in doubles together? wow, interesting. Thats one thing I like about Djokovic, he is a fierce competitor on court but you get a feeling he doesnt feel insecure or threatened about other players. Probably thats why he is the most gracious in defeat among the big 4.

This is BS, he couldn't wait for Shanghai to get the #1 ranking. Those who predict more than 15 slams for Rafa and a long tenure at #1 are in for a rude awakening.

Hopefully he get Darcy'ed in the second round!!!!

All I heard here was a bunch of whining. First Federer never was important and his tennis is boring and now Novak isn't the least bit funny. Most of his impressions are spot on and you can tell he is probably the only 1 of the big 4 that doesn't take himself too seriously. I bet the sky is red and the world is flat too.
