I am pleased to see Milos playing well. He stepped up like he should, being the defending champion.
More difficult matches to come, Grigor next, who looks also poised this year.

The one time I'm happy to see Milos win! Hoping dimitrov plays well for a change this year but not counting on it. Should be a good match though.

Your animosity towards Nadal is almost becoming poignant by now. But hey, we all have an "anyone-but...." I'm torn in the match-up. I admire Milos for his ambition and work ethic, though not so much his game. I've been endlessly frustrated by Grigor with his lack thereof. But if the new commitment is there, I'd like to see Grigor take this one, and maybe put some grit and spit behind the polish of his sports-car game.

I live an hour south of Brisbane but I'm away with the family on holiday at the mo. I will get there next year though.

Is that Sunshine/Gold Coast an hour south of Brisbane? What's the mo?

They say Raonic is wearing mouthguard while playing? They didn't say why and I can't think of a reason for someone to wear it in a non contact sport.

He seems to find it calms the nerves. He also found that sleeve comforting. You never know what rituals work for them. A lot of tennis players have their rituals. It's an individual sport, and they have to do a lot of work in their own heads.

Grigor up a set on the first set tiebreak (9-7)... maybe he is going to make his mark this season. He's been talking a good game and put in a lot of work in the offseason by his own account.

I wasn't aware this guy Valverdue or whatever his name was went from Berdych to Dimitrov. Was that matter of weeks?

During second to last point the commentator said that the reason why Milos is wearing the mouthguard is that that way he relieves some back problem he has. When he said it I think I've heard that before but totally forgot.

I think that's what he said at Wimbledon. I wasn't aware he continued wearing it.

If I remember correctly a commentator mentioned it a couple of months ago. He said that Milos has a habit of grinding his teeth during matches. That's why he wears the mouthguard.
