What a shot there! Alcaraz is the real deal. Serving for it at 5-3 in the 2nd.

Alcaraz's obviously fearless at the moment! Very impressive! Cam is throwing everything at him, but just holding on! :fearful-face::astonished-face::anxious-face-with-sweat:

Definitely impressive. I think it was Annacone who predicted the other day that Alcaraz will be in the top 5 by the end of the year. He may be right.

If that ball person was smart , if Nick's racket hits them, they are rich from a lawsuit.

First it was a kid who doesn't think about money like us stupid adults. Second there's a thing called a reflex, when you see danger you try to avoid it. As for your theory, what if that kid loses an eye? No money will give it back. That ball kid was very smart to avoid the racket.

Kyrgios will get away with this unscathed, because the match was over, and because the kid has good reflexes. But it really isn't a joke that people can get hurt from this hot-headed, violent behavior. You say "lose an eye." Remember that a chair umpire almost did when Shapovalov launched a ball towards the stands in anger, and it hit the guy in the eye. He did have to have surgery. I think it broke his eye socket.

It's really a big shame to see players act so recklessly with complete disregard of the people around them. Here's what Nadal had to say about the incident and he is right:

"These situations are happening more and more often. The ATP should put a stop to this. Otherwise sooner or later something major will happen."

Kyrgios dismissed the incident after the match as unimportant.

Kind of reminds me of Djokovic's dismissal a few years back as seen in the video, and then we know how a few years later Djokovic got disqualified at the USO.

What bullshit. He actually pitched the racquet in the direction of the kid. Not intentionally, but there was a person in the line of fire. Plus, the match was over. Get mad in the locker room. Cry in the shower. This is not a moment of passion, this is self-indulgent nonsense. And to just keep saying..."I didn't hit him, did I?" Well, lucky you, mate.

It's exactly the same defense. "Well, I didn't hit anybody." That time. Chickens did come home to roost for him at the USOpen and it probably cost him the title. So much hubris over behavior not having consequences. And why not? All the ATP says is: One of these days, seriously, we're going to get angry about this. We mean it. But carry on for now.

Nick has been more sanctioned for rude remarks and "lack of effort" (both fairly passive infractions) than anyone has been for violent behavior on (and off) court. (Except those who actually hit someone. Is that what they're waiting for?)

You've never had to convince me of that. Certainly not since I learned from nehmeth that he was tax sheltering in Monte Carlo ("Mr. Serbia,") and that was over a decade ago.
