B Tomic (AUS) bt F Fognini (ITA)---6-3, 6-2
A Seppi (ITA) bt P Cuevas (URU)---7-5, 6-3
A Dolgopolov (UKR) bt J Vesely (CZE)---6-3, 7-66
D Lajovic (SRB) bt N Mahut (FRA)---7-5, 6-3
A Bedene (SLO) bt M Granollers (ESP)---7-5, 7-64

L Mayer (ARG) bt M Klizan (SVK)---6-4, 6-3
G Dimitrov (BUL) bt P Carreno-Busta (ESP)---6-4, 6-1

Good win for Paire. That was a tough match up for both. Suprised at how easy Tomic beat Fognini. Foggy must have been in the mood. Nice to see Dog recovered from his retirement from last week.

So how did this happen? When I left home it was 2-6, 0-2 for Monfils.

Monfils was up 6-2, 4-0 before Benoit began his comeback.... I got to watch the replay of the match. Monfils is an idiot, but it was entertaining. Happy for Paire. :snicker

I'm sure the other French players know monfils even better. I remember his match with Murray at Roland garros last year when he just basically handed Murray the fifth set, 6-0. Tanked it obviously, and I think he'd just won the fourth. I don't think he likes playing in France, but maybe he does, but it brings out the worst in him. I'm sure the French consider him to be a source of embarrassed amusement...

Vasselin takes down the big ugly Dr. Ivo, winning the 3rd set tiebreak. I believe Robbie Koenig stated that Karlovic is 0-10 in third set tiebreakers this year.

... Vasselin is giving away his wrist bands and someone asks for his shirt... he takes it and puts it in his gear bag.... the vagaries of being a journeyman tennis player. :cover

Clutch performance by Stan in the TB to close the match with Bernie Tomic.
Bernie has some chances to take the second set, some loose points in the TB though.

I haven't watched a single match here yet, so how fast are the courts? I remember last year it was slower than Monte Carlo... Not that it matters but it would be more entertaining if Fed could go deep here.

Will save this post for the WTF using a clay surface discussion. :snicker

Trust me brother, there's been claycourts faster than these indoor courts. And anyway, as I said umpteen times, I don't agree with Rafa on this one... ;)
