Nadal off to a great start as he looks to defend his Laureus Comeback of the Year Award.

Who would expect Gasquet to win anyway lol? Not even watching 'cos his I'm a muppet who stands further behind the baseline than even Spaniards on clay routine on every surface is not ever going to win him anything much.

Gasquet's tennis IQ is appalling and no coach has successfully managed to tell him to stand on the baseline and not 15 feet behind so every good player just bosses him around.

It's getting thuggish now, with forehands raining down like kicks in a Scorsese film...

No, he's just tanking to avoid Gojowczyk.

I'm not a Scorsese fan overall, but I like 2 of his films:
The Color Of Money (1986)
Cape Fear (1991)

He'd have to change the way he hits his backhand and shorten its motion. It's got a huge backswing so he has to stand back to give himself the time to take big cuts at the ball. It's not that easy for a one hander to stick your grand on the baseline and hit half volleyed rockets on the backhand side.

That's a lot easier said than done so I think even with a coach who urges him to move further up the court, Gasquet would struggle.

Now, I'm not being funny, but they're two I didn't enjoy. But I see the attraction.

Vamos! The king is back with a bang. :clap

Surely it wouldn't be too hard to have a different rally backhand with less power and shorter motion and then a more powerfully struck one when he's far back.

Looks like a good win for Andy after giving Jerzy that head start in the first set. A shame he didn't complete the set one comeback by winning the breaker as I don't think his body will be thanking him for the extra time on court next week in Shanghai.

Anyone see much of today's action? How is everyone looking?

Its not so easy Front... Gasquet just doesnt have the best footwork and he has some classic beautiful strokes but not a real knock out weapon to win him free points.. its not his tennis IQ but he is just a grinder who doesnt possess the knockout punch..

Both Murray and Nadal have fairly easy opponents in the second round and it looks like
both will reach QF (not to mention Novak).
