I do think Stan is better on clay though.

I know he is. That is why I am saying he has more upside, as this year he managed a SF at the USO. His RG was his best ever also but he run into Rafa in the QF. With better odds, he could score a SF there too, at least.
I predict right here, that Stan could be a top 6 player at some point, in the near future, if Berdych, Tsonga did it, he could do it too. It might not look a whole lot of upside, but in this era, is awfully hard to progress within the elite.

Ferrer eventually it's going to run out of batteries maybe next year, there will be a spot for somebody to step up and take the #4 ranking for good. It could be Delpo but not sure on his cosistency and Federer seems to me there is no more "last push" left in him. Stan could do it, he has the game.......

Good win for Stan. Anyone know if he has a decent H2H vs. Ferrer? I am not sure how their matches have gone but I'd imagine David would be a pretty tough matchup for him.

David has a lead over Stan: 6-4.
But since Magnus took on Stan, it is 1-0 for Stan, the final in Portugal on clay.

I'd love to see it as I prefer Stan over most players in the top 10. The backhand is just a beauty. So much power in it. He does stand awfully far behind the baseline though and mentally he's just not as good as most of them. I've always liked him and was disappointed when he faded away somewhat a couple of years ago after he also reached the top 10. I just don't know if he can sustain the level.

Interesting, thanks.
I guess some Databases are incomplete.
I googled it and the first came up is called: "Tennis Databank". It has no results before 2006, how stupid is that. I did not realize that, now I am seeing it.

The ATP site is perfect for this stuff. They have scores going back decades. The other day I saw they had results for matches Rod Laver played in the 1950s!

Ditto on the ATP website. I was checking some H2Hs the other day and saw Borg is 5-2 against Rod Laver. What surprised me was despite the 18 year age difference, they still played 7 times.

This post is for EVERYONE. This thread is about the World Tour Finals.
- If you want to discuss any one player's effectiveness on this indoor surface who isn't currently playing a match right now, do not put it in this thread.
- Do not refer to previous matches that do not have anything to do with 2013 WTF.
- Do not call someone a troll or any other derogatory name.
- If you have a comment about a poster, send a PM.

Thank you

So who's gonna win tonight? DP or Gasquet?

Im picking the big guy in two! Just jumping on the bandwagon.

Btw, Gasquet is actually taller than I thought: 1m85 or 6ft1 . Same as Nadal. He somehow comes accross as a tiny fellow. Dont know why.

I think because he is slim. He seems smaller, but he is not small.
I hope Delpo will have a good event. I want to see him in the SF at least. I think he wins tonight.

I think DP wins tonight as well, probably in straights if he can come out of the gate cleanly.

When I found out how tall he is I was quite surprised, too. I figured he would be around 5'10" or 5'11".

As for tonight's match, I agree: JMDP in straights.

What a nice surprise for me to see Fernando Verdasco in the doubles WTF!
I did not check the field and I thought he and Marrero did not make it because they were upset in Valencia and lost in Paris early too.
I just checked the results today and they defeated another armada team: Granollers-M. Lopez 6-1, 6-4
:clap

VAMOS!

VAMOS!

But it's their other results from this year and the finals of Shanghai that really helped to qualify them.

Seems to be the fate of whoever is in that 8th spot isn't it?
