BTW Nick is the first Aussie to reach the q/finals at the AO in 10 years, seeing it is Australia Day today.

Congrats to Kyrgios on his win today, looking forward 2 when he plays Murray next.

It has been a long time coming for a Aussie in their own GS to make a q/final
In saying that I believe Murray will win their up coming match.

Being brutally honest. I think Murray will defeat Nick K, but a huge part of me would prefer Rafa to take care of Berdych and then clean Nicky K clock to silent Front and all the other Rafa haters out there:devil

Melbourne Murray has reached his sixth consecutive QF @ Australian Open, got to love what the atp site head line on Murray's match.Maybe this will silent the Murray haters out there lol.Rafa might make the Final, but i hope it's Murray.Wawrinka i'd be very shocked if he won this year. While Murray's still in with a chance of winning @ Australian Open, you never know we might have the old big 4 back in rankings. That might upset a few off on here.

Delighted with Andy's win. I only watched from mid-set 1 to early-set 3 but he seemed to be playing well, Dimitrov played an excellent tie break. A very hard fought win for Murray against a good opponent who seemed to be in pretty good shape too. I was getting worried when following the score in that 4th set, what happened? It seems like Grig just capitulated? Anyway, good man Andy!

I haven't seen any of Kyrgios for a long time but I can't help but like the kid, he's got some serious backbone for his age. I'm fairly sure Andy will have his number pretty comfortably in the next round (although the last thing I want to do is jinx my guy so touch wood).

How has Rafa been looking? Can we say he's close to being fully fit? If he and Andy do meet in the semi finals that one will be extremely interesting.

That was a funny and very insightful interview from Rafael Nadal.

Here are the key points:

He said that his backhand and serve is doing well but he needs to improve his forehand a little bit more. He believes that if his forehand improves then his movement improves.

He still think that he is not the favorite because of his confidence.

He also said that he and Federer are old guys now. And even though he is old, he wants to play Tennis for a couple more year

Finally, he believes part of the reason that Kyrgios is playing well right now is because of his big serve and he is young. He believes that because Kyrgios is young he doesn't have the pressure to do well thus he is playing well right now. However, once players and fans get to know him more, it will be harder for Kyrgios to play well and win.

I wish ESPN interview Nadal more because Nadal has a very interesting and insightful thoughts about Tennis and life.

Sometimes I wished that the spanish I learned in college was better because I agree there is a lot of substance to Nadal which doesnt always come across in his English interviews. Eg. Sharapova, I never felt there wasnt too much geniuness about her as a person, but her English is very well but all that comes out is fluff, IMO.

When you listen the Rafa's interviews in Spanish (it's my first language) you can see how honest and spontaneous he answers every question like when he talks in English though sometimes he can say some words which for English speakers can mean something different.
For example yesterday he said that Berdych is "a regular player" and he really meant that his game doesn't give you many surprises, very stable and of course he is a great player.

(Off topic but I've not been around for a while) What's your diagnosis on Roger's loss? I tuned in to bits of the 3rd and 4th set and he didn't seem to be playing tooo badly... Of all people, Seppi is a bizarre one to cause an upset like that in a major.

It was actually quite a tightly-contested match to the very end...not the usual pack and fold you see from someone who accomplished a major upset right before...are you sure Roger would have breezed through Kyrgios last night?:s

If he played remotely decent...yes he would breeze through Kyrgios, same as if he played decent vs Seppi.

Roger played decent in the last 2 sets minus the 4th set tiebreak. The first 2 sets were really bad though especially the 2nd set TB. Roger's serve and return were both awful, that made him ripe for an upset vs anyone.

If playing "decent" is enough for Roger to breeze through dangerous players these days, he would never lose.

Decent for his standards...yes he breezes through those kind. That's why the loss to Seppi is considered a huge upset. Roger will be long gone before a loss in the 3rd round to a guy barely ranked in the top 50 is not a bad loss.

It's a pretty bad loss. Never said otherwise.
