In the Aussie shoot-out, Tomic wins the first set over Groth, 6-4. It's 1-1 in the second.

"Noone beats Andreas Seppi 11 times in a row"

Well put :clap

I meant Nobody. Sorry to see roger loose.. Seppi is a deserving chap.. Roger will be back and mighty as Ever

Do you mean at next years Australian ? Or do you mean at Wimbly and the USO ? I think he can still win 1 or 2 more GS but it won't be the Australian or the French.

Huge opportunity here for Tomic, with a chance to get to the R16. He'll face Berdych. I don't know if they've ever played, but Tomic's odd tactics could be an advantage.

really all tournaments because Roger's game matches up well against the top tier players,, he will always be a threat or a factor if he is playing well

Berdych leads the H2H 2-0. They've played both their encounters at Wimbledon with Berdych winning both in 4 sets. But that's grass. With a slower surface and the Aussie crowd, the scoreline could very well be different.

Tented, Berdych and Tomic have played twice and both of them were in Wimbledon in consecutive years. Berdych won both matches but Tomic had numerous chances to capitalize but he couldn't so Berdych won both matches in four tight sets.

I will tell you this: the crowd will go nuts for Tomic. Also, you remember the Almagro hit Berdych three years ago? I have a feeling the Aussie crowd will remind him of that.

Thanks, TsarMatt & Rafanoy. :)

I looked up the scorelines:

2014: 4-6, 7-6(5), 7-6(3), 6-1
2013: 7-6(4), 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-4

Eight sets, and four went to tiebreaks. That is close.

From the Australian Open Twitter:

This also means #Federer’s streak of consecutive #ausopen semi-finals has ended. He made 11 consecutive SF's from 2004-2014.

What an absolutely amazing streak from Federer. Nothing but admiration. What consistency! It's a shame it has come to an end, but still. Kudos to Roger. :)

Yeah, Fed's most closely associated with Wimbledon, of course, and the USO probably second, but on paper he's been most consistently successful in Australia.

I still feel Berdych will beat him because Berdych shots are heavy so he could definitely push Tomic on the back of the court.

Also, Berdych is playing well.

Kevin Anderson takes the first set off Gasquet, 6-4.

Tomic/Groth at 4-4 in the second.

Anderson is probably relieve that he doesn't have to Berdych again in the Slams :lolz:

OK guys, all of you have fun for the rest of the AO. I will try to occasionally show up.

I just watched Fed's post match presser. He did not blame it on IPTL, Davis Cup etc.
He said he would not change a thing as he actually wanted to play in all of those.
He said Dubai will be his next tourney.

So, we got 4th round in USO, 3rd round in AO, 2nd round in Wimby? Is 1st round in RG next up:devil

But, I would still give him one GS in either Wimby or USO this year or next year.

I like it how Federer didn't blame his loss on anything. He openly admitted he just had a mediocre day at the office, something that happens to each and every tennis player. Good on him for being candid and not finding excuses.

Tomic takes the second set 7-6. Intense tiebreak, with Groth double-faulting on a SP.

Just want to congratulate my fellow countryman Seppi,I thought at least he could take a set off Roger,
Seppi has a good solid game on HC,I am delighted with his win,Fognini could take a leaf out of Seppi's book and try to act like a tennis player.

Onwards Seppi you have done Italy Proud!!!!!!!!
