With Thiem leading 3-1 in the second, at 15-15, one Goffin return was called out. Goffin correctly challenged it. The umpire determined to replay the point. Thiem acknowledged that the call was made after he made contact with the ball in his response, which went out, thus conceding the point. It was in a very tense moment of the match, just after an 14 minutes game in which he had a lot of chances to go up two breaks. That's sportsmanship.

Samurai takes the opener 7-5, then promptly dumps serve and has the trainer on-court for a visit. This guy can never stay healthy. :nono

Garcia-Lopez has a beauty of a backhand. But the on court couching is so flagrant that it is scary...

Thiem has a lot of weapons... he hits really hard.

Nishi winning the third set but he wil have to win the next one, otherwise the match will be too long and if he wins......I don't know if he will be ready for the next round :cover

What about age?

Goffin is 24, Thiem is 22. I think in 2 years, Thiem will be better ranked than Goffin is now.

Maestro in control finally. Time to put the baby to bed (so that I can go to bed as well).

Grigor played better than expected (from 3-5 in the first set to end of second set).

Can't believe that no one is up watching Fed win!

Congratulations to Fed on his 300th GS match win. He is #1 in that respect. #2 is Connors and is way behind by about 60 matches or so. Among active players, #2 is Novak with 209 wins. Novak stands #5 all time in this respect.

The match was not all that straight forward. Grigor played really good in the last part of 1st set and for the entire second set. But, Fed brought in huge intensity in the third set and got an early break which eased up the situation.
