The crowd always bothers him, you'd think he'd be used to them sometimes cheering for his opponent at times.

Man, has Becker hit a few buffets or what? Now he will have more money for it.

Gasquet really played some silly tennis today, like rushing the net numerous times with crap approach shots. Looks like the heat got to him. He has to be disappointed, he led in the 3rd and 4th sets.

Don't think Robredo has much of a chance against Wawrinka, Stan won't be as easy to grind down.

Silly tennis and silly Richie....very disappointed by his performance today

So Monfils, in all his wisdom, decided to play three sets of doubles today at 40c. Great. That will make him nice and fresh for tomorrow.... :puzzled

Let me ease up your worry. Under no circumstances was monfils going to beat Nadal or even soften him up. There, now you can stop worrying about him being lethargic, playing doubles, and the number 1 ranking

The problem is that I think Monfils thinks this too... :nono

LOL, well in all seriousness, I understand where you're coming from. No matter how confident we all like to act, deep down inside, most of us want the easiest paths for our player. I freely admit that I do. If it means Novak losing to Istomin (LOL! But bear with me), I'm completely fine with that. It's a weird internal conflict because part of us also wants great tennis, and the satisfaction of seeing our player beat his main rival(s), but sometimes, we don't want to "risk" it.

I don't see what's wrong with admitting this. It's nothing against Novak (or any other player).

There is of course some truth in this. Better to win a Slam than to lose heroically in a final. But then again better to win a Slam heroically than to win a Slam. A devils dilemma.

I don't think Robredo won that by grinding.

Robredo played his usual pressing game with a lot of depth and he put any short balls away, but Richard wilted in the long rallies in a manner reminiscent of his pre-2013 days. Last year he made significant strides in slugging out matches from the baseline by playing patient tennis and staying in the rally until he had a chance to be aggressive. The best examples of this were his wins over Ferrer at the US Open and Beijing last year. Today he was way too impatient (see those insane net rushes behind soft approach shots), probably because he tired towards the end.

Maybe it was the heat that did the actual grinding. He looked a little slower than usual.

It was actually yelling during Nole's service and calling outs in the middle of he rallies, who gives a ..it for cheering for their opponents.

I wonder how we, No1e fans, never go to Fedal matches to annoy Fedal and their fans, while No1e's matches are regularly watched by Fedal fans who go there largely to annoy No1e and his fans.

And btw this was No1e's 27h win in the streak which makes it one of the 20 best ever. He is only 2 wins short now to his idol's best streak ever.

Please get over yourself. You think people in Australia paid money and sat in unfavorable conditions for the sole purpose of annoying No2e. You crack me up. :lolz:
