So Monfils, in all his wisdom, decided to play three sets of doubles today at 40c. Great. That will make him nice and fresh for tomorrow.... :puzzled

Oh, Denis, so little faith in your champion that you become the new biggest fan of every one of Nadal's opponents? :dodgy:

No, I'm confident Djokovic will beat Nadal. I just want that no 1 ranking back ASAP.

Let me ease up your worry. Under no circumstances was Monfils going to beat Nadal or even soften him up. There, now you can stop worrying about him being lethargic, playing doubles, and the number 1 ranking

The problem is that I think Monfils thinks this too... :nono

Ah…you're watching Nadal tick up points. I heard that doubles match was entertaining, btw, though I doubt we'll ever get a replay.

LOL, well in all seriousness, I understand where you're coming from. No matter how confident we all like to act, deep down inside, most of us want the easiest paths for our player. I freely admit that I do. If it means Novak losing to Istomin (LOL! But bear with me), I'm completely fine with that. It's a weird internal conflict because part of us also wants great tennis, and the satisfaction of seeing our player beat his main rival(s), but sometimes, we don't want to "risk" it.

I don't see what's wrong with admitting this. It's nothing against Novak (or any other player).

Gutsy play when most needed got Robredo the match. Happy for him.

Gasquet really played some silly tennis today, like rushing the net numerous times with crap approach shots. Looks like the heat got to him. He has to be disappointed, he led in the 3rd and 4th sets.

Don't think Robredo has much of a chance against Wawrinka, Stan won't be as easy to grind down.

I don't think Robredo won that by grinding.

To be honest, I'd prefer Nadal over Murray in the final for instance. Main concern is the no 1 ranking. If they would not give Rafa 1200 points for the final, I'd be happy to see him there.

Not exactly rare for Novak to blow a break lead, hopefully he finishes him off this set.
