To be brutually honest, Leyton Hweitt's career has been over for at least 5 years. Only he doesn't know it. It has actually been pitiful to watch him struggle with one injury or another and the obvious effect and toll they have had to his game when we all can remember, I'm sure, how good he was when he was at his peak (2001-2005). Hewitt should have ended his tennis with the same dignity as for example Pete Sampras, Stefan Edberg or Pat Rafter. He has the makings of being a fine commentator and Davis cup captain.

But yet he won sets 1 and 2 with pretty crushing scorelines. Sad day for him but I did say before the match that Becker would win.

Apparently Hewitt wants to buy a island in the Bahamas,he already owns a property there.I thought this year at the AO he would announce his retirement. He said in his press conference his focus now is the Davis Cup for Australia.

Donald Young's game has for quite a while reminded me of Nadal's. Not only 'cos he's a lefty but look at the way he swings and runs along the baseline. Hits a lot of loopy forehands too and some flatter inside out ones. A lot of parallels except for the results obviously!

Hewitt will be a guest commentator now at the Australian Open,Hewitt is a good analyst and being a player currently on the tour,he gives insightful comments.

One would hope Rafter would give priority to the rising players.

BTW Uncle Toni in 2008 invited Donald Young to come and train with Rafa in Spain,he refused? though the further reading on this subject,I found out this is was his father that refused the offer, his father being the coach of Donald Young.

Is he still in the doubles competition ?

Rafter dosent have a property in the Bahamas,to my knowledge,it was for tax purposes, many other players on the tour have done the same thing.Rafa now lives on the Sunshine Coast,in Queensland.

I havent checked, quite frankly I have never been a fan of Hewitt, though I give him credit for his services to Australia in the DC Cup,when he does retire I can see him being DC Captain,at present Rafter is,though with Rafter's new position which comes into force from February 1,it will be difficult for Pat to give his full attention to both.

Agreed. I'm more of a Rafter fan.

Fashiinista, I spoke about this years ago, a very unwise move by DYSr and his wife. Who knows maybe DYjr can become a late bloomer although he was a 15-16 year old child prodigy .

I watched the last 5 games today. Dyjr played well as he probably could, Raonic had too much fire power.. He will be a very dangerous dark horse until he reaches the big boys(players in the top ten
