So, it looks like Novak's Fever/Flu is completely gone. Any doubt over whether he is
really the favorite in view of his fever is now gone. Just yielded 5 games tonight.

I don't quite remember if I've seen Janowicz play before, but he surely took grunting to another level.

[edit]: And just because I wrote this he completely stops grunting, which in fact was screaming.

Actually one of my commentators on his match,Leconte said he put Sharapova to shame...;)

He's a good player, but I've seen him play matches where it's quite clear he is using the grunting as a weapon to try to distract his opponent. It has no correlation with the effort that's put into the stroke. He's not the only one that does this, but it certainly seems to be the most blatant example of this. For all the criticism we might direct towards Sharapova and Azarenka, the one thing I'll say about both of those is that they are scrupulously consistent in that regard. There are big names I won't mention who aren't in my opinion, but there it is. Some say it's part of the game, but I for one can't stand it..

^It ain't good is it? :D In all seriousness, this just shows what a difficult sport tennis is. Talent is just one component, and Le Monf shows it might not even be the most important one. Some spheres between the legs is key...

The battle of the 33-year olds - Hewitt vs Becker, is becoming just that - a Battle befitting of Grand Slam Tennis. Hewitt took the first two sets 6-2,6-1, Becker the next two, 6-3,6-4 and is up 3-1 in the Fifth. C'MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON HEWITT. Keep fighting.

Seems like I watched Janowicz before but I don't remember him channeling his inner Sharapova like that. Classless. Needs to be warned. Guess he signed up for a spot in the Sharapova Scream-borderline-cheat club.

I was wondering just that. After your post, it's confirmed. Shame, because he is so obnoxious that I was starting to actually like him.

I can't believe what has happened. Hewitt was dominating for the first two sets, and was in complete control. Becker upped the ante and Rusty froze.

I'm gutted. :(

I'm shocked too. Hewitt looked so in control. It never ceases to amaze how a Grand Slam match can flip in the third set. So was this his last Australian Open appearance?

Becker's a great competitor and journeyman. Am I right in saying that apart from 2005 Runners up , Hewitt hasn't come within a bulls roar of winning the AO ?
