It's simple thing. Turn the volume down or in mute mode.

I am not a great fan of Maria, but let's give credit where it is due, facing two match points and still remains steadfast, nerves of steal almost crumbled, but did not.

Serena and Venus are the professionals, so, if they believe they can handle doubles on top of singles, who are the viewers to question their decision.

Because the last few slams they've played doubles has impacted their singles. They're not spring chickens anymore. Serena injured herself in AO doubles the year she lost to Sloane. Venus was exhausted during the USO match against Errani because they were on court late the night before playing a doubles match. As a viewer, I have every right to question the decision, especially when we've seen these issues before.

Are you sure about this K?
I looked at the doubles draw 3 times, I could not find Williams in there.

Can we use the draw thread to talk doubles or should we start a thread? I think we have enough threads.

Boo! I hate Sharapova! Someone better take her out!

Don't be that way Sunday. She'll lose when someone steps up to the plate and does it. These girls shrink when they should push forward and be aggressive.

Well said kskate2. Tell us why , in your opinion, do 'These girls shrink' ? Do they play not to loose when closing (or trying to) out these matches ?

It's easy to answer, but not an easy problem to solve. It's much easier to play it safe and shrink. To be aggressive means, you are taking a risk. At times, the risk pays off, but other times it can be detrimental. You must be willing to live w/ consequences either way.

Here's why it's difficult to solve:
If you've been playing it safe all your life during the crunch, it's difficult to near impossible to flip that switch when it's time for you to be aggressive. Basically, it's a way of thinking (life). Maria wins alot of these matches because if she's going to lose, she will lose going down playing her game. If you don't have that type of belief all the time, it's not going to come naturally to you in the 9th hour.

But hey, if you can alter your way of thinking and win a couple of these matches, you will win many more because you now believe no matter the score, I'm going for my shots.

Yes. I'm sure. They were 3rd up on Show Court 2. They were supposed to play Medina-Garrigues/Shvedova. They must have withdrawn and were replaced w/ Falconi/Martic.

Right. But they don't and that's why they end up losing.

Rookie mistake, you hesitate and you are toast!

It wasn't too windy today, it seemed it was hot early on, now temps show 22° C | 72° F

Not sure if I should be relieved or feel a sense of foreboding over their doubles withdrawal.

I wouldn't perplex about it. Maybe they're actually putting more emphasis on their singles and don't want to chance being tired since both are playing at a pretty good level right now. Besides, it's only going to get hotter throughout the week.

Apparently you weren't the only one with the opinion.

I know you were wanting Serena to play mixed doubles,in a way I am glad the girls have withdrawn from the doubles.

If so, they should not even enter. Entering and then backing out, one should be perplexed.

Of course I want her to play the mixed here, she doesn't have that one.

Well I was talking to one of my fav male doubles players at Apia International,Nenad Zimonjic,I know he wanted Stosur to play more mixed doubles with him, seeing they won the mixed at Wimbledon last year,it's a pity he didnt ask Serena to play mixed at the AO.
