Oh well the 16 year old has found her match in Babs, who is serving for the match at 5-2 unless she forges a turn around like she did her last match
Not to be today I am afraid though Andreeva had a great tournament and can be proud of her results
Babs win 46 63 62

Serena is in a class of her own, if Serena in her prime was playing now, she would beat the Top Ten currently with ease:_
What I mean is Mirra would have loved to play Serena and beat her because she knows the financial reward and notoriety she would get from beating the queen, this little girl really wants fame.Pova benefited,Osaka and many others who made a lot of money from Serena's success.

A good consistent stat for Aryna Sabalenka,

Sabalenka has now reached the QF
Who is winning between Saba and Krejcekova.
Saba sorry to disappoint you :) from what I saw from her match with Amanda and Babs match against The Whiz Kid
Unless Saba goes walkabout, though she seems to have her eyes on the Prize!

I am not that invested in the AO24,I don't really care who wins.I just want a good competitive final since I free next weekend.

It is really hard for all players to come to Australia after their break and get used to our climate and conditions, and to perform at their best.
I Hate blow outs in any matches, though like you I want to see a ' competitive final' who ever makes it this year

Would someone find Vika's serve and hand it to her ASAP she served twice for the 1st set and lost went to a TB and lost, which she deserved to.
Q Yastemska 76(8) 1st set
I have to hand it to the Q Yastemska she is a good ball striker down a break in the 2nd set and has come back and is serving for the match 5-4
Tossip was saying to me the other day that Vika can lose to a random player out of nowhere and she was correct.Vika has been playing some good ball this AO and when it mattered to get into a QF she produces one of the worst games I have seen her play in a long time
Q Yastremska d V.Azarenka 76(80 64 to make her first GS QF, what a run from qualifying!
Vika will lose a ton of points she was defending SF, and will leave the Top 30
Vika will kick herself for the wasted chance she had in this draw!

Bad luck for Elena Svitolina who had to retire in her match, back injury, against Noskova down 3-0, who wins by retirement

Top part of the draw fell apart with both Iga and Rybakina out, plus many others. I was really hoping to see those 2 in semifinal. I miss some rivalries in women's tennis.

Bottom part of the draw still has Saba and Gauff. Hope they meet each other again, could be an interesting match.

Which is why I would like to see the WTA Finals moved to September (following the US Open), the break in October, and the beginning of the fall events in November (perhaps starting with the BJK Cup). Those fall events would be the perfect segue to the Australia/Oceania leg in January. I feel like a longer ramp up to the Australian Open would be get the players better conditioned for the slam.

Seeds that lost on Day 9

Azarenka (18) it was the worst game I watched from Vika in a long time,
Svitolina (19) sad, she had to retire in 3 games with a back injury and she was playing good ball
Paolini (26)

Don,
Sabalenka and Gauff are projected to meet in the SF in they both win their matches, they both play today Tuesday 23rd January (today)
Shame it should probably be a final, anyway thats how the draw is.

I feel like Linda Noskova, if she makes it out of that half, could be a challenge to Gauff or Sabalenka in the final. Noskova has a very aggressive game, and if she is on, she can trouble just about any opponent (just ask Iga).

Linda is very unfit she needs to hit the gym for her age of what 19, shame Elina had to retired she would have exposed her lack of movment
