Not sure at the beginning of the tournament I would make a wild prediction but based on the play I have managed to see here in the US (despite ESPN's dreadful coverage), I am picking Ostapenko (I know, I know) vs. Sabalenka in the final. Selecting Sabalenka, who hasn't lost a set in the tournament, really has a strong chance to win her first GS. Pliskova stands in her way, but from what I saw Sabalenka seems to be swinging freely, but what I noticed is her on court demeanor seems more casual, more confident.

Now Ostapenko, who sent Gauff packing, seems to be in really fine form, even upsetting the tops seeds in the mixed doubles draw. If she can survive the serving of Rybakina, I see her coming through the top half of the draw. My pick for the title - WHO KNOWS, IT'S THE WTA!

Gauff played like an idiot! She didn't move Ostapenka around at all, hitting right down the middle and choreographed her own upset! Poor Jelena should have stayed with the frilly penifors to hide how out of shape she's become! Watching her now and it takes me back to the 70's when even Evert was lugging around a few extra pounds! :astonished-face: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::face-with-tears-of-joy:

Getting back to the present

While we wait for the court to be wiped and the roof closed
Elena spraying her shots, which isnt new at all for her, unlike her match when she played Gauff., she played with more control
What I love about Rybakina she never shows any emotion, she is as cool as a cucumber

I am sorry there is no way that Ostapenko can make the final at the AO this year, she is being routed at the moment by the current Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, she is a UFE machine at present and she does not know the meaning of 'controlled aggression' and to me she is very unfit, you just have to move her around the court. Unless Elena has a 'mental breakdown' I cannot see Jelena winning this match
Elena d Ostapenko 62 64...a clean win from Elena 11 Aces in the match, she has to now one of the favorites to win the AO title, great form she has displayed so far at the AO

Rybakina wins the 1st set 62 over Ostapenko in 32 minutes, too good so far
With the roof being closed could help Ostapenko....we will see in the 2nd set

Osta's nutrition plan is showing up on court today. She looks so slow. She ran for a couple of drop volleys and could not even get her racquet on them. Who said it looks like she's been eating Mickey D's everyday during the break? :astonished-face: :lol6:

Nooo. Them outfits were horrid, please leave them in the past. And Chrissy carrying a little baby fat is completely different than Osta carrying the additional weight of a 7 year old

Well she's doing what Coco refused to do. She's mixing it up and moving Osta around exposing her lack of movement.
Yes, Coco could do herself a favor and watch this match, she is still in the doubles QFs with Jess

She doesn't need to watch this match, that's her coach's job to scout, study film and give her the game plan. Oh right, her coaching team haven't been doing that.
