I admire Kyrie Irving for that stance. He has a principle and he’s willing to lose in order to keep his integrity.

But Novak isn’t on the same team as Irving. Novak isn’t defending his principle. He’s trying to have his cake and eat it. He doesn’t want to lose anything, while still being thought of as a principled man. He may end up in the worst of both worlds - by taking a huge loss, and being considered highly unprincipled - by the time this is finished…

If you're looking for condemnation; forget it! Sorry if I'm not being outraged and PO'd enough due to Novak and the decisions' he's making! :-)2

No, I’m not looking for that, brother. This is a messy week for tennis. For me - and you as well, I’m sure - tennis is a thing of beauty, a great distraction from the real troubles the world, and supreme example of the power of sports to inspire. The great pity this week is that we’ve seen another side of the beast we all created by taking it so seriously…

Novak is 2nd up on Rod Laver Arena night match on Monday 17th January,
If Novak gets deported seeing that the Order Of Play has been released a LL will take his place.

With Djokovic unable to compete at the 2022 Australian Open, a Lucky Loser will take his spot.

Also, in terms of rankings, whomever wins the title between Medvedev or Zverev, he will be the new number 1 rank player in the world on January 31, 2022.

So, there are A LOT of stakes for both Medvedev and Zverev in this tournament. Djokovic is OUT and they are both at the opposite side of the draw too…

I haven't given up on Rafa yet. ;)

The one “unlucky” player with the draw due to this drama is Rublev. If Djokovic withdrew, he would have been the 4th seed. If Djokovic was deported before the order of play came out, he would have been the top seed thus avoiding Medvedev. But neither happened so he has to potentially face Medvedev in the QF…

Yes, but if he'd been moved into the Djokovic slot, he'd have had (potentially) Rafa, and I don't know if he'd have fared differently. In any case, I have to redo my draw challenge picks. Don't forget to play!

Yeah, he would rather face Rafa at the SF than Medvedev at the QF.

Also, I think Rublev will take a chance at Nadal/Zverev rather than Medvedev at this point of time…

I haven't examined the draw enough to know if folks will complain about how much this "imbalances" it, but I do think the general opinion was the bottom half was lighter, so might be OK.

In terms of the draw, it’s a pity for Rublev. He’d have a better chance to reach the final through the top half if he’d taken Novaks slot, I think. There’s a wide open Quarter there for someone else to grab the chance…

Jannik Sinner has a good opportunity to reach at least the QF. He can potentially face Ruud in the 4R (not a bad match-up), also, he is in Tsitsipas quarter so that’s a good opportunity because Tsitsipas’ level is unknown due to his elbow…

The LL is 150th ranked Salvatore Caruso
I love that guy! He's just an OK tennis player, but he has a fabulous name. Like the Spanish player who featured for about 5 minutes, Iñigo Cervantes.

I had my youngster as a player that could have a good AO this year,I liked what I saw from him at the ATP Cup in Sydney
