A potential long match against Khachanov. Hopefully, Nadal is up to it physically. It is at night too so it will be somewhat humid.

Melbourne does not get the high humidity like Sydney,it would be more humid in the day.I know Rafa likes day matches, though he has had 2 day matches so far in the tournament

He definitely prefers the day matches because his ball is much more livelier in the morning than in night matches. Also, he definitely prefers the heat more than the humidity. Meanwhile, Djokovic prefers the humidity more than the heat.

Just looked at the weather for Friday 21st January...31c Humidity 37%
Here in Sydney we have had 98% humidity which is just disgusting
Melbourne is more of a 'dry heat compared to Sydney
I have been at the AO in Melbourne when the temp has been 43c....it was hot but dry heat

Listened to some tc commied blather. Folks around here with laugh that Jon Wertheim is saying that they haven't been paying enough attention to Sinner. In that case, they aren't reading us. A lot of big attention on Alcaraz right now, and bettors giving him the odds over Berrettini? Seems a bit soon, in a Bo5. But could be an upset. We know that Silent K won't be a comfortable match for Rafa, but he owns the H2H, so I'll say in 4.

I’ll pick Alcatraz over Berrettini.
Nadal beats Karen in three sets.
Too bad I can’t watch due to the time difference.

I hope you regret the Karen match! I'd love another upset to keep Nadal from joining Nole with Double Career Grand Slams! :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :anxious-face-with-sweat::ambulance:
And for that you'll root for Fred Flintstone? I thought you had an appreciation for tennis history. ;)

IIRC unseeded Alcaraz beat #3 seed Tsitsipas in the 3rd round of the USO (Bof5) in 5 sets, (7-6 in 5th) and that was just as big a stage, and Carlos beat Berretini in their only previous meeting in an indoor HC circa 2021 Vienna. So as upsets go this one might be not that much of a shocker at all.

I'm not saying you're wrong, and I think it is the popcorn match of the day.

Jannik Sinner and Alcaraz have golden opportunities to reach their first slam SF! Alcaraz is in the Djokovic's section. Sinner is in Tsitsipas' section. Just imagine an Alcaraz/Zverev and Sinner/Medvedev SFs?! Whew! It will be fun

I quite like my youngster's section, have been impressed with his form at the ATP cup in Sydney, his game on the HC has improved,as you say this is a good opportunity, this is where he has to take the opportunity when it presents itself.
Vai Avanti Jannik!
