Is Goffin injured? If so, who is the alternate?

I’ve decided I don’t enjoy watching AZ play. He is solid all around except for the FH. At the age of 20, being ranked 3 is a great accomplishment. However, I rarely find myself amazed by his play. He will be number one, barring injury. But I much rather watch Dolgo, Fog, Monfils, and others who hit stunning shots.

Sam Querrey is the other alternate...

Oh, good lord. This is why people want to smack you upside of your head. Your English cannot possibly be that bad. You are willfully, thuddingly painful.

Clay is blue. Ask @mrzz, for fuck's sake.
Moxie.. you are joking .. Correct

Players from past eras all thought the same thing; "I'll use the early rounds to warm up," and they never make it out of their openers like Becker and Edberg on "Black Monday" back in 1990! Sampras only made one true legit run and that was in '96 when he got to the SF! The rest of the time it was a waste of a trip to hit Paris! Same with Connors, McEnroe, Ashe, Hewitt, & many other top ranked players! We're assuming Roger doesn't get a clay court specialist who'll outlast him since he's a senior player with a lot of miles on him!  :rip:

Johnny Mac did make 1 final at RG...during which he led Lendl 2 sets to 0...pretty easily at at...had his usual in-match meltdown over a line call or something...pissed off Lendl...and lost the FO...5-7 in the 4th. It was the best year of his career and until Roger's 2004-206 seasons (and Djokovic in 2011) was widely considered the greatest year ever in men's tennis - 1984. He was 82-3. He made the semis the next year - and never went beyond the R16 after that.

Just being brutally honest, A lot of others feel the same but will not have the cojones to say it.

Oh really? I have yet to notice anyone on this board being too spineless to say what they really think...even when it's beyond ignorant...ahem...

I never said McEnroe never made a final; just that FO wasn't his best surface! He made 1 final and subsequent SF, but that was about it for him! OBTW, I do believe that Lendl final over McEnroe went 5; ....7-5, 7-5! Most players were lucky to make SF like Connors and Final like Edberg! Becker had that 1 SF in '89! It was Stefan trying to overcome Becker that I think took a lot out of him against Chang! I felt fortunate Martina won her 2 titles & Hingis had only 2 chances losing tough finals to Graf & Majoli! Oh memories of what could have been!

I think it's a fantasy that Roger ever plays RG again. After this year I think he will stick with what worked scheduling-wise and ditch the one thing which was an obvious mistake.

But if he plays RG and that's the final and he still has a big win streak vs. Nadal? Well I'd say his chances of winning would be considerably higher than the previous matches there. The reverse happened at Wimbledon when Roger was mentally spooked which made things peachy for Rafa in that 08 match. But seriously I doubt Roger plays RG again and I don't think he'd make the final if he did unless something like this year happens again. Roger this year would've been #2 clay courter by default given the very underwhelming Thiem was.
At some point, Roger will do a victory lap and hit all of the big tournaments, including the clay ones. That will not be next year. I buy the notion that clay bothers his knee. Also that he prefers to save himself for grass. As to Roger being the #2 on clay this past year, if he'd played it: maybe. But then he likely wouldn't have won Wimbledon, so what's the point? I don't think you can insert Roger as the #2 in a whole part of the year he didn't play, as an assumption, and then assume the rest of the year would have gone the same.

I'm surprised that someone thinks clay can bother his knee when I've always heard the HC is the worst for the knees. I'would say that if Roger didn't want to play the clay season was because he wanted to be fresh for the grass where he knows that he has better chance to win than on clay, as simple as that, and of course at his age it would have been too much for his whole body

@brokenshoelace has made a decent case that clay is hard on the knees for all of the work that goes into it. While the general consensus is that the natural surfaces are softer on the body, it does depend on a player's style. Rafa has said that he has trouble on grass because it requires him to get low on the ball, and it's hard on his bad knees. For Roger, the clay bothers his knee. I don't know if it's that he doesn't slide well anymore, or if it's the longer points, but that's him. I don't think there's any one answer, for players at their level. Only they know.

It's not your English, it's what you have to say, or not.
Maybe to be honest and to say what I’m thinking is bad for you and others but what some of them say doesn’t seem to be better, always the same blah blah blah and too many incoherent comments about the same subject and fight “Nadal, Federer, Federer, Nadal. Anyway enough is enough, don’t worry I won’t bother you anymore, I understand Kieran now perfectly well so I join him too, have fun!
