Here's the deal, and this is why I argue with Darth about Nadal's relative popularity: Novak, Andy, Stan, Kei, Milos and whomever can go down with injury, but it's not going to make a huge impact until it's Rafa or Roger. I know that's what you were gaming. That said, I think it's useful to have this thread. I have other opinions about players and fitness and injuries that I will be happy to place here, having had nowhere else.

As to your last: as to Djokovic, best days behind him...probably. He's 30. But some good results to come, I think so, if the injuries aren't a thing, and I don't think they are. I also think that Stan is done, and I hope Murray isn't. I'd like to hope for more for del Potro, but it's hard to imagine.

Why do you think that Djokovic's injury/injuries aren't "a thing" when you think that Murray's and Wawrinka's injuries are?

Then why bother with an "injury" thread unless it exclusively pertains to either Nadal or Federer...or both?

I think it's very useful. You're only questioning the timing. Which I explained. ;)

You said that Djokovic's, Murray's, Wawrinka's, Nishikori's, Raonic's injuries don't have a huge impact. I disagree...especially regarding the first two or three.

I guess what you're asking is: why wasn't there this thread before? I'm not really sure, but the reality there wasn't. It's an On-Demand kinda thing.

Like you said...It's really only about Nadal and Federer. No one else's injuries really matter.

Now, that's bullshit. We have talked a lot about Novak's, Murray's and Stan's ones, on other threads. Particularly Novak's, obviously. Just because Federberg gives it a thread here doesn't mean that only Nadal's injuries matter. I'm just saying that when things happen to Roger or Rafa, more attention is paid. Why should that be different? Especially on a tennis forum? We're not journalists. We're mostly partisans.

I'm guessing that most of us on this board are partisans. The question is...Can partisans be objective? As a fan of F3, Dr. Y, and KA 47, I think that I can.

Lol! I guess I should try to settle this debate. Rafa's injury was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Would I have thought this thread was relevant if Novak, Andy, Stan and Kei weren't already injured and Rafa got injured? Heck no. But this is where we are. So it's a thing. We should debate it. And I thought it was a justifiable thread in it's own right. Does that settle it?

I'm hearing that Murray's rehab is going well. Not sure he'll ever be the same again, but we can hope. When I think of Murray these days I immediately think about Hewitt. But we need to adjust for technological improvements and not write him off so quickly

Maybe, but we also need to adjust for age. Hewitt was, what, 22-23 when he started struggling with injuries? Andy is 30, 31 in a couple months.

But we shall see.

Stan Wawrinka is now out until the start of the clay season. Maybe for the best.. his comeback wasn't going swimmingly well. Now he'll have a few weeks to do a proper training block and hopefully get that knee into fully serviceable shape.

That's sensible. These guys didn't learn from Federer last year. He waited and waited and waited. Until he was more than ready to come back. I got the sense that Novak, Andy and Stan all tried to come back too soon and suffered for it.

yup me too. I'm not a fan, but it feels to me there's a lot more he can contribute to top level tennis
Definitely & although I get the message from what you've said that patriotism isn't everything to you & you support who you like 1st because you like how they play & not because it's not realistic most of the time, it's nice to get a British winner because we don't get many. I'm not twisting your words but showing that I've listened to what you've had to say & added my opinion to the end of it not making it sound as if you agree with what I have to say.

haha! That's ok. If Andy's not playing someone I like I'm always happy for him to win

Haha! If it's a case of someone you don't like & a Brit you opt for the Brit then.
