Team Theim lost, alas.

Nevertheless, a great YE ATP finals him, beating arguably the best all time Hardcourt players (along with PMac & Sampras) back to back and making the finals for big ranking points.

Goodness, All these players poised , Theim, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Medvedev, it’s anyone’s guess which one may break through to win their first Major in ‘20.

I would not say Tits came out of nowhere and won this title. Certainly, he was in everyone's radar. However, it is interesting to note that not only he has won GSs, he has not even won a Masters event yet. Nonetheless he managed to win the WTF.

Actually, he has not even won a 500 event yet.

While I did not fact check, he is probably the first winner of WTF who has not even won a Masters before and surely the first winner of WTF who has not even won a 500 event before.

Probably means he was consistent enough to make it! I doubt few players could make a YEC w/o winning at least one, but it would have to be just one since Fedalovic were so selfish allowing others to celebrate a win at a Masters 1000 event! Murray the only serious contender, then Wawrinka! The NG'rs will hopefully show up and represent well next season; win a Masters, then at least make a major final! :yesyes:

True.

Other interesting stats; in the final ATP rankings he beat every other player in the top 12 during the course of the year.

Tsitsipas defeated Rafa on red clay, Novak on indoor HC and Federer in outdoor HC all within 12 months. In fact Stefano defeated the big 3 four times this year. Other than Murray, has anyone else accomplished that in the last 10 years in a single season?

In some ways that’s more impressive than winning a single 500 or Master 1000 Series with a depleted field, as some have done in prior years ( cough, cough...Jack Sock...cough, cough)

Funnily enough Nalbandian did it in the span of two weeks in 2007. He beat Federer twice, Nadal twice and Novak once. 5 wins in two weeks. Not bad. And thus, years of endless arguing with Cali on the boards began.

I feel like there has to be another player(s) but I can't think of one off the top of my head. Del Potro beat Nadal 3 times in 2009 and Federer twice. That's 5 wins but I don't think he beat Djokovic that year so it doesn't count.

PMac definitely isn't one of the all timers.

It only means something if you have multiple championships! Single winners like Davydenko, Sock, & Dimitrov means little to nothing!

The last 3 YE ATP winners ( Dimitrov, Zverev, & Tsitsipas) haven’t reached a Major finals as of now, much less have won one.

It think this is a load of crap. If the tournament means a lot, then it means a lot to win it, even if only once. Do you think it means nothing to win Wimbledon once?

It's an accomplishment like anything, but not as much if that's the only win you have like Pat Cash in '87! He literally has nothing else! A Wimbledon is a Wimbledon, but if you see a name once, you assume upsets were rampant for the most part! He beat the top player in Lendl though, but still quite an upset for a player of Cash's caliber to win a Wimbledon! :nono:  :banghead:   :ptennis:

So, winning one Slam is not the same as winning 16, or whatever, but it is a thing. As is winning the YEC, if only one time. Maybe you only get to the top of the heap once, but you did get there. It's not a complete fluke, no matter how many upsets happened. No reason to spit on it.

Who spit on it? Just stating facts! Winning one major is HUGE and it makes the careers of the average top player! GOATs win more!

You rather spit on the notion that winning one YEC meant nothing. I'm saying it's a thing. We live in this time when 3 players win basically everything. I know you can remember when one big crown, or 3, was a real career. I'm saying that I'm not giving total side-eye to players that just cap one serious title.

What Nalbandian did, IIRC, was beat Roger and Rafa in the same tournament, which had never been done before and then did it twice in a row. Madrid and Paris. (Yes, and that's why we can't stop hearing from Cali.) At that time, there was no talk about Djokovic. In 2009, del Potro was the first player to beat both Roger and Rafa in a Major, and then go on to win the tournament, (though it was still an accomplishment, even if he hadn't won the title.) I'm pretty sure that Djokovic was the next to do it, USO '11. At the time, the accomplishment was beating Roger and Rafa. Inserting Djokovic is a bit retroactive. What del Potro did certainly does "count." But, to date, I'm pretty sure no one has beaten all of the Big 3 in one tournament. Or even how many times someone has beaten two of them in the same tournament. Something to look into.

just shows you know nothing about tennis, how many years have you wasted? Cash's calibre, sure he was no Lendl but he beat Lendl at other slams too and made AO finals and lost both against Wilander and Edberg in five sets which either could have won. He was without debate one of the best in that era.

Advise for you, shut up and learn.

nothing? you have not won any championship of anything, so you would happily equate yourself to those above since their single win means nothing according to you.

Get out of here.

look idiot, the sport is not all about GOATs, they are a small part of it. So if we look past the GOAT level players, there is nothing left? go take some meds.
