OF COURSE Carol doesn't "think" Novak will win another slam. Reason? Because since it's looking less and less likely (according to many) that Rafa will win another slam, her best hope is for Novak NOT to win any more---thus keeping him 2 slams behind Rafa. Don't need a psychology degree to figure that one out :)

I'm honestly curious, Carol. Why don't you think Novak will win anymore? Do you think Andy will be dominant this year? Who do you see winning Slams this year and next?

Nicely done by Grigor this season. I am very curious how far he will go. A defeat here from kei will not tarnish his good debut.

Roger or Rafa for the title so? :D

Rafa or Fed will win a grandslam title this year..Rafa has finally gotten his fitness to Murray and Djokovic level, the tennis will come. Federer has tweaked his game to shorten points and to attack that will put way too much pressure on the smaller fish(players ranked less than the top top ten or less. It's just what I see but it's a prediction, we shall see.

Thanks for the highlights. You are doing a good job, mate.

Grigor's forehand is looking so solid now. The swing looks too good. But, he still needs more power on that side so that he can hit more winners. Then, he will be good to go against the big 4. I am happy to see him win a title again and certainly I would think these first week 250s are the most important 250s that are there on tour. The field was deep here. So, it's great to have defeated top players like Milos Raonic and Kei Nishikori in your first tournament. Considering that he had a title drought, this is a great jump. This is 2 top 10 wins in your first week. Great!

It bears watching if he will make more top 10 wins at Oz Open. Not going to be easy but its not impossible.

I have not any idea who will be able to win Slams this year because it will depend of each player and not of us :D but I seriously doubt that Novak will, why? because he is a weird guy, since the end of 2010 he always has trying to find 'something else' (I don't blame him, everyone wants to improve the game) but first a Serbian Doctor/Mentalist and of course he helped him a lot, in less than three months he was plying better than ever surprising to the whole world and more to the players. But nothing is forever so after his results of 2013 he tried more help adding to his team Becker who is very famous to be a hard gambling Poker man and drinker but he also helps him a lot. Then after his Wimbledon early exit and his serious upset in the Olympics Novak again has tried to find....something finishing his relation with Becker and joining to a very strange character named Pepe besides his 'personal problems' which is not my business :cover. So all those things have showed me his huge insecurity which at the same time surprises me with how much confidence has played these previous years. He is a player who needs a lot of help, physically and mentally but very lucky (maybe thanks to the yoga) that he doesn't get injuries. He also has done too much effort physically and mentally for all these years and he is starting to show the side effects little by little and maybe he can't find more improvements for his tired body and mind
Anyway IMO I don't think he will win anymore GS or maybe one more as most but of course I don't have a Cristal Ball so we will see who will win. I don't think Federer because his age and about Rafa if he would be injury free I think he will be ready at RG and it would be great if he would win his third USO

Ok, so you really think Murray is going to win all the slams from now on? Or who else? Go put some bets down at various bookies 'cos they'd probably laugh in your face and give you massive odds for Novak not to win another slam. He most definitely will win another slam.

Bookies odd's Novak & Andy are under 2/1 Stan around 12/1 Roger & other 20/1 & upwards.:snicker

Going by the form we've seen so far this year and Stan's inconsistency, I'd say it should be Roger 12/1 and Stan 20/1.

Except that Stan's odds should go up when he is not in form (as he usually does well in slams coming out of nowhere).

True, but I feel he's due an early-ish loss for once but who knows. We'll find out soon.

OK, fair enough. I don't why it would be different now, though. Remember that Novak has won more Slams than all but three players in the Open Era. If his "searching for something" is a problem, why has he managed to win 12 Slams? And what is different about now that he won't be able to win anymore?

Also don't forget that he's literally only seven months from being in the most dominant year and a half in tennis history (2015 to mid-2016). It is hard to imagine him just losing it completely, and beating Andy at Brisbane says otherwise. Of course we can look to Mats Wilander to see a player who went from being on top of the tour and then complete collapse, but I don't see anything to make me think that Novak won't at least win another Slam or two, possibly more.

The Brisbane win has not told me anything even it seemed very important to Novak to beat Muzz and looking his behavior throwing the bal to the crowd hitting a woman and smashing badly his racket......and they talk about Kyrgios? hmmm too much stress for a 250 tournament, don't you think? :nono

It's not about the stress or effort to win a mere 250. It's about reasserting himself as the world's best player by way of beating his current top rival in advance of the next slam which is making a statement. He could easily have lost the plot and subsequently the match having blown set 2 but he didn't. That shows he's the favourite again for the AO imo. Whether he will win it or not is another matter but, with this win, he enters as a slight favourite instead of co-favourite, given Murray has never won the AO.

The reverse of course is also true. Not even trying and losing the match yesterday would've only given more confidence to Murray so of course they both went all out to win. Plus, they're very close in the rankings so every point counts, especially for Novak who has a ton to defend next few months.

I understand that Brisbane tournament doesn't count any point for the ranking

Great job by the Gigolo.
I am hoping he turned a corner and by defeating 3 top 10 players in a row signals to the field that he will contend as well in the near future for the bigger titles.

For the tennis players it's more about peaking @ the right time & we going to have 5 sets matches.
