Well the anticipated q/final match with Coco and Serena will not happen...Siegemund d Gauff 57 62 63.....Coco's shot selection at times were her downfall,knowing she will learn from this match.Siegemund will play the winner of Serena and Christina McHale in the q/finals.

Well McHale has given Serena difficulties in their previous meetings she takes the 1st set 63.Serena's footwork and timing of her ground shots on both wings is not there at present,she also needs not to 'overplay' her shots,have more aggressive control.

Christina's level has dropped in the 2nd set and more UFE's creeping into her game,Serena still not at her best wins 62,going to a decider.

Serena 5-2 in the final set and serving for the match was broken,footwork still causing problems,still she finds a way to win.

Serena ground strokes were very strong deep and penetrating.. I would think she will eventually clean up her footwork in a few weeks

Watching Serena vs Laura Siegemund in their q/final match both players are playing well on serve in the 1st set 4 all.
Serena putting pressure on Laura in her service game,great bhand and forehand winners to break and win the 1st set 64.

Stats from the 1st set Serena W 13 UFE 8 Laura W 7 UFE 10.

I must say Laura has improved her overall game,last time she played Serena she only won a handful of games,she breaks Serena early in the 2nd set,great defence,good returning and strong deep ground strokes.Laura with some wonderful BH Down the Line winners consolidates the break and leads 3-1.Laura had love 40 on Serena's serve,Serena fighting back to hold,Laura could have had a double break in the 2nd set.Those missed chances have cost Laura,Serena gets the break back,.on serve in the 2nd set 3 all.
Serena great returning and breaks,after being a break down will serve for the match and a place in tomorrow's s/final 5-3
