Clay has never been great for counter punchers????:huh::huh::huh:

I REALLY have to wrap my head around that one.

You'd have to go back a very long way to find a counterpuncher who won much on clay. Off the top of my head Wilander is probably the last great one, and that was before the power era really took off.

Nadal does not counterpunch at least 75% of the time at the French? You have to be kidding.

Jesus...not this again. No, Nadal does not counter-punch 75% of the time at the FO and you're still consumed with labels (ie "counter-punchers" and "aggressive baseliners") as opposed to just analyzing each player's unique brand of tennis.

It would help if you didn't act so baffled and surprised in your responses to people, especially when it's actually your responses that are lacking in terms of understanding certain players' games.

If you stand on the bank long enough, the river will go past you twice. I think the Chinese say this.

Or an Irishman, not sure which one...

If Nadal's defensive skills did not win him the majority of his RG titles, then we are watching different
tournaments. Period. Maybe 2 out of the 8 he won with aggressive baseline play.

He is an aggressive counter puncher according to EVERY SINGLE ATP Coach I have talked tp, and every analyst, including Pmac, Koening, Gilbert, Lester, etc etc.

He. Is. Not. A COUNTERPUNCHER!

His game is geared to getting the foe boxed off so he can whip him to death with the forehand. Fact...

That. Is. Part. Of his strategy.

And that came on only around 2010.

It's a testament to Rafa's powerful boxed off strategy, that he manages to push all players out of their threads, taking them for his own. :snigger

Did the same coaches tell you Murray is the 4th best player of all time? And Hewitt prefers to play on slower surfaces? Just wondering...

Those super fast courts at the AO, in Memphis, and Delray sure helped Rusty out.

Hmm, that's funny, because I don't recall him winning the AO. I do however, remember him winning the US Open and Wimbledon.

^ The courts were way faster over a decade ago when Hewitt won his 2 slams. Both the two surfaces he won on have dramatically slowed since then.

Well yeah, the point is he won on faster surfaces. Though I disagree about the US Open courts being "dramatically slowed down."

I think 2002 Wimbledon, the grass was slower...

Yeah not dramatically for the US Open admittedly, but grass has definitely slowed down a good deal since Hewitt won Wimbledon. But they were both faster no matter how much or little back then. Think everyone agrees on that at least.
