A simple replace of "Monsieur" with "Madame", and no problem addressing women with it.

I have a problem with different French phrase: non-personal form of conjugation: "il pleut" (for "it rains") and all similar. Why do they use masculine pronoun "il" instead of neuter pronoun, e,g, "ça pleut" or "c'est pleut" ? I'm not a linguist to answer, because the reason for masculine pronoun usage here might be as old as French language itself.
I remember my French teacher saying that Madame or Mademoiselle was never used instead of Monsieur in the formal version of yours sincerely which I partially recalled & mentioned above but that was 21 years ago. Things might have changed like they have in other areas.

I've no idea I'm afraid. You may be right.

I've been mostly ok with Andy's retirement, because I've kinda been waiting for it. Just, especially last week when he said he was playing through pain STILL. I was just like.... that thing is just not getting better. And as many of you mentioned, hip injuries are no joke. As we're seeing, they can literally be the end of your career. Which is not to say I wasn't still a little surprised to hear him announce it so soon.

But the way he fought last night, which I didn't see because it was 3 to 7 am. The way he always fought. To go from being a 5 or 6 or 7 time AO finalist to losing in the first round because your body won't cooperate (to say nothing of a fantastic top 20 player in Agut, who came back from a serious injury last year himself). It's heartbreaking. And that tribute video... it just got me. Just like. I, and I imagine most of us, just really hope this isn't it. I definitely hope he can give at least a showing at Wimbledon, but also a good showing. But would definitely love to see him be able to come back, even after a serious operation, to make another season or two of it.

When you win 3 slams, you can say that you are a champion. :good:

But when Nadal considers you a friend, you can now say that you are friends with a legend.

I've met hundreds of dogs worthy of friendship and Nadal has shunned all of them with his hate rhetoric.
That's sad. How can you not like little pups & fluffy & cuddly sheepdogs & golden Labradors & Westies & Scottie dogs & shih tzus & poodles & schnauzers & St. Bernard's & spaniels & pugs? No prizes for guessing my favourite dogs are sheepdogs & the reason why.

I went to the zoo the other day and there was only one dog in it. It was a Shih Tzu :D

Thanks that's enough. Most European languages are like that, including all Eastern-European. English/German only marginally but still are even if English lacks gender declination/conjugation: when we don't know the gender of a person, we say "he". Only recently I noticed the tendency to use "they" as singular neuter pronoun (whereas traditionally it's supposed to be plural neuter only). The only perfectly gender-neutral language that I know of is Japanese.
Just want to chime in quickly and say Turkish is 100% gender neutral as well. There is no he or she. One word for everyone.

ha, we'll have to fire up a thread for our dogs.
Good idea! My last dog was a bearded collie/Alsatian cross. He looked like a bearded collie but had the ginger eyebrows of an Alsatian. Nadal definitely wouldn't have liked him on the tennis court as he had the tendency to nick the ball, run away with it & chew it to bits.
