Andy is also looking to play mixed doubles as well,so far he has been rejected by some of the women he has approached to play apparently, according to his press conference after his doubles win today.Keep asking Andy!
That would be great. It's such a shame he's been rejected & I agree that he should keep asking.

Partnering with Herbert? Doesn’t he play with Mahut?

Herbert told Mahut that he does not want to play doubles anymore with him as he wants to concentrate on singles. But, once Andy asked he agreed.

Let's face it, playing with Murray at Wimbledon will raise his profile. Think of it as an offer he couldn't refuse.

Murray should play mixed doubles with Laura. Both had hip surgery recently.

What is this non-sense of raising his profile? Basically, playing with Murray will make his name known to less serious tennis fans. How does it matter? He is not running for a public office to be worried about how many people know his name.

He won career grand slam in doubles with Nicolas Mahut (yes, they together won all four majors). If at all he is playing doubles, he should actually work with such an established partnership. Besides, Mahut likes grass also.

Unlike in some other majors, in Wimbledon doubles is a serious business. All men's doubles matches are best of five right from the first round. Nobody even knows, whether Murray can hold up if the match becomes a long-winded affair. The situation was even more uncertain when Herbert accepted (as at that time nobody knew whether Andy would hold up in 3 set doubles as well).

I knew his "retirement" was a sham. He was always gunning for Wimbledon. Basically he wants to stop Federer, cause he's a Nadal fanboy.

You forget about the business side of tennis. Herbert will get a lot of publicity (in the English-speaking world, for one thing,) and may get better endorsements from it. That's my argument for why he would do it. After the outcome at Queens, it looks even more like a good decision. When has Feliciano Lopez ever gotten so much attention? And he's won Queens before. No one would have been caring that he won the singles/doubles unless he'd been teamed with Murray. Yes, I know Herbert won the career doubles with Mahut, but this is his cross-over potential to an Anglophone audience. If you don't see why this is a great opportunity, I don't know what else to say.

Andy Murray's team has just confirmed on Twitter that Andy and Serena Wiliams will play mixed doubles at Wimbledon
I saw her say the same on a TV interview. It was mentioned that he was turned down by a few women, though I didn't really hear why. Herbert leapt at the opportunity, even to the point of insulting his old partner, Mahut.

I heard he asked Ash Barty, she is playing doubles with Azarenka, at Wimbledon, she thought that was enough, apparently he contacted her during Roland Garos.I am not sure of the other women.

Yeah, fair enough. I found this which says that several women turned him down, without naming names. Could be similar reasoning. Anyway, I think Murray/Williams is genius!

Poor Robson is wrecked at such a young age. Wrist surgery and then hip surgery. The 2 most likely career ending surgeries for a tennis player.
