Overall an ugly match. 90 unforced errors for the two players combined.

and Why the heck do they play this late in Mexico? Does anyone know?

I didn't think it was ugly, on Dimitrov's side, except for that random exhibition shot. Andy, however, should have been cleaner, if he wasn't going to be bolder.

And I'm no expert on Mexican culture, but in most Latin countries, nothing really interesting happens before 10-11pm. Could be that.

Nehmeth is correct: the matches got backed up, which is why this one started so late. It's a combined event, so there are both ATP & WTA matches.

That's what you get for endlessly pushing, Murray. You need to utilise your weapons.

^^ Not quite back yet Kieran. Saw more positive signs this week than from AO, but he isn't quite 100% comfortable on the court. It would have been good for his confidence to get this title, but he made some progress this week and that's a step forward.

Thanks, kskate! I watched the highlights and fair play to Grigor, he stuck to his task. I hope he wins the final, I'd also like to see youngsters make a move, though I'm not a signature to the deal that the glass ceiling is in any trouble from any of them - just yet...

I watched sets 2 and 3..grigor is mentally/physically way stronger than before,

andy flagged a bit at the end, not at his best yet but getting closer to it.

Very good win for Grigor. If he comes through in the final, it will be a big step. He should beat KA, but if he doesn't come out ready... Anderson won't give him the title.

It's also worth pointing out, how much the semi last night is evidence that this tournament is better on hards. It draws better player due to its proximity to Indian Wells, and thus better play!

Damn right, Phront!!!

Unexpected phinal, it will be a milestone for the eventual winner. their first 500 title.
Both are at their career best in the real live ranking and coincidentally they are one beside each other right now, ranked 17 (KA) and 18 (GD).
The winner will make a big step forward towards top 15.

Is this match (the phinal) gonna start anytime soon?
