Good to see Dimitrov on the up. Won his first title last year and now has a 500 under his belt. Great progression!

He's gonna have about 800 points tomorrow? That's about a quarter of what he'll need to qualify for London... :clap

yippee..:D dimi and Federer win tourneys in the same weekend , big kevin was destroyed sitting down after losing he was a break up in the 3rd set and 4-2 up in the 3rd set TB..

Dimitar berbatovs 2nd title..one thing that is good is grigor has played long 3 set matches in the QF, SF, and F. on consecutive days..or nights as it turned out..

why do they play so late over there ? everyday they were playing matches at midnight, 1am or even past 2 am. the ballkids were out late as well as the fans and the players.

^^ Poor scheduling...

But it's on the schedule that the men's match would be played 'Not before 9pm.' That's not poor scheduling, that's a choice, and I'm pretty sure they're just a late-night culture.

Yeah, but playing at 2am? That's nobody's culture, that's just idiocy...

^I think that's too harsh. First of all, it finished at 1:15. (Dimitrov v. Murray went until 2:30, though.) And if they want it to be a late event, why do you get to judge that? Players play for a few hours, anywhere between 11am-4am (if you think about some of those Oz matches.) They can handle it.

Why do you get to judge them to be right? ;)

I think it's madness in Oz as well, and a result of poor scheduling there too. Players have complained about this. They're high-priced athletes, not disco dancers.

Lleyton Hewitt:

"Going on that late is not easy for anyone, any players, because it does throw your whole, you know, rhythm and clock out quite a bit," he said.

^^I didn't say they were right, but I didn't call them idiots, either. If Mexico gets told that they play too late and don't change it then athletes shouldn't play there, if they don't like it. But they point is that it's not necessarily a mistake, but a choice. I was kind of surprised at you guys getting all up in arms about the late hour and the ball kids being up late, etc.

Dimitrov gets it, after being down a break, in the TB. Moves to #16. Kevin's a bit crushed but it was just a little here and there. Good final.

Congrats to Baby Fed. I had a personal bet with Robbie Koenig about Grigor. He had his doubts and saw him a bit of an over hyped pretender. With 2 ATP titles and a good showing in Aus, he is a believer.

I didn't say they're idiots, I said that's idiocy, to be playing matches so late at night. And yeah, the ball kids should be considered too, but most of all the players. There's no tourney without players and if they make it hard for players to play, because they finished so late the night before, then that's both self defeating and idiocy.

I think it's not just Acapulco, but even bigger events which have this problem. And as I say, if players are complaining, then maybe in this case they're right to...

Like the great Bjorn Borg said, tennis is a daytime sport. And I agree.

Well, there's night-time matches, but Borgie didn't like them. But morning matches? Not before breakfast, I reckon... ;)

Yeh, he hated returning serve under the lights. But then again he won quite a few indoor tourneys.

I guess there is a difference between a 730pm night match and an 1100pm night match lol.

Congrats to Dimitrov. Finally, we have an up and coming player who did not wait to
become 30+ to win a title.

Now that he is in top 16, the draw will be kind to him in IW and Miami. I hope
he makes good use of the chance given to him and consolidate his spot in the
top 9-16 range without doing the oscillations that so many of them do once
they get in top 16.

Dimitrov may finally really be coming into his own. This was a big victory for him and it was HOW he did it that impresses me. He beat Murray in a third set tiebreak when the pressure was on and won both tiebreaks (in the third being down 4-2) in the final over a very game Kevin Anderson. They both wanted this title very badly and Grigor ground it out with fight and no let-down. That was what impressed me. He is really fighting and striking some very good shots. It is a pleasure to see unfold.
