Has La Monf won a 500 before. I know he has not won a GS or ATP 1000

He won Washington in 2016. That's a 500. I know that Monfils has been injured a lot, and has been a bit of an underachiever, but he's been as high as #6. It's surprising that he's only won 8 titles, and surprising how few titles a lot of the stalwarts that we've known over the last, say, 15 years, have actually won.

Not many players get to 10 titles or more, let's put it that way.

But don't you find that surprising? I know we get used to the gaudy numbers of Roger, Rafa and Novak, but I find it stunning how little it takes to be world #6.

G.Monfils always does this every time he starts to go down in the rankings he plays a good event making the final or winning the title, to go back in the top 20. To bad he rarely plays like this in grand slams because he's at least a Qtr final or better player at the slams
