Look at this years distribution of big titles minus WTF.

GS: Nadal -2; Novak - 1; Andy 1.

MS: Nadal - 5; Novak - 3; Andy 1.

Does anybody see four names here?

As long as Rafa, Nole and Andy stay injury free.........Delpo will not crack the "Big Four" title. Well, he can for sure IF the draw plays out to his advantage but taking two out three in a GS seems almost imposible at the moment. Maybe on clay he has a better chance if somebody takes Novak/Rafa out so he just have to deal with one of them....and then pray for the best day of his life on the court.

Well, as we saw in 2013. the top guys were not as bullet proof as they were in 2011-12, when there were top 4 to deal with. This year one of the top 3 was either injured or upset earlier: Rafa at OZ, Andy at RG, Rafa at SW and Andy again at the USO. So the chances have increased to see other guys in the final stages. I think the doors will widen more next year.

True, but the two guys that remained were basically playing PEAK tennis. At OZ, both Novak and Murray were just too damn hard to beat and at RG you know the story. At SW19, I think Novak was excellent until the final and murray was Murray. The UO was a little bit open for a guy like Delpo...too bad his wrist held him back.

I'm assuming next year Murray will be back 100% and Novak will continue his excellence. Nadal is a wildcard due to his knees.....you could be right though, maybe Delpo jumps Murray in level and only has Novak to contend with.

Still think Del Potro needs to show more consistency on slow/medium hards. At the AO in particular, he's underwhelmed.

I think that's a matter of physical endurance, the AO can be draining due to the high temperatures. I think he looks fitter now thatn at any point this year. If he underwhelm again next year at the AO an spring season then I'm afraid we will get stuck with "The Big Three"....although I think his best slams are RG and UO so who knows.......

I don't ever see DP becoming better than Murray. He is a dangerous customer who could conceivably win another major or even two but that's probably the best he can hope for. It has to be said right now, he is not even close to being as good as the top 3, not in the same universe. Can he make it a big 4? I will believe it when I see it.

IT Is possible that this time next year murray n del potro could be no1, no2 in world rank charts.

murray comes back fresh, pain free.( won OG/OS and 2 majors with ongoing back probs), del potro continues injury free progression..and its a feasible scenario. jmdp apart from his wrist op has had low level injuries impeding his progress (rg qf vs fed 2012, withdraws queens, below par at wimb, wrist injury affect 2h bh at uso 2013 etc..)

obviously its not a likely scenario, but if this time next year its murray and del potro having a party at the top 2 positions in rank charts..you can say you heard it hear first.

I have a much better opinion of JMDP's game, attitude and personality.
I strongly believe that he will finish in top 4 by the end of 2014. He probably
will win at least 1 big title (GS/MS) in 2014, if not more.

I think the chances of JMDP becoming better than AM is much greather
than the chances of AM becoming better than ND.
