Nadal also won his 50th consecutive semi final on clay in either Madrid or Rome, so he's up to 51 or 52 consecutive semi final wins on clay since he lost one, I believe to Carlos Moya (so a while ago).

That's the first time anyone has mentioned this streak. Interesting.

The loss to Moya was in Umag 2003. So Rafa has played and won all of those semi-finals spanning an almost eleven year period.

Yep, very impressive. Nadal continues to surpass my own personal expectations. I thought Djokovic was going to win RG this year, especially after Rome, but Rafa continues to step it up. Even around this time last year, the prospects of the man winning the North American slam seemed so implausible, but he won the USO and both those Masters 1000s. It takes an unbelievable degree of focus, determination, and self-belief to achieve what Nadal has done.
