I think he has great potential. It's interesting that both the youngsters Thien and Fonseca fell to the same guy. If I remember correctly Senogo is very mobile with decent footwork? I give Fonseca higher upside potential than Thien, but he'll need to work on that.

Btw... am I the only one who sees a bit of Goffin in Thien?
Now that you mentioned it... Good catch. Tien is closer to a pure defensive player than Goffin, who people love to say that didn't have any weapons, but he was indeed able to dictate points with decent power and great placement.

Sonego beat Fonseca in a close match, where Fonseca lost intensity for half of it. Sonego is very intense, never takes the foot of the gas.

I saw the MRI, but have no idea how to read it. Zverev's wins came when Sinner was pretty young and unformed...except for the first one, with Sinner surprisingly winning on clay. You rooting for Zverev, or just thinking his fortune changes?
Not a Zverev fan, too many chokes in clutch situations. He had a very good two weeks here and I thought he might punch through. He has so many ghosts he could be a cousin to the Addams Family. Credit to Sinner.. Fantastic work ethic.. Whole team on the same page. Plus he is clutch in the big points. Most of all he is innovative and able to think for himself on court.

Hi Rob,

What struck me was Zverev showed no confidence at all in this match, I understand he was frustrated but his body language was bad, you should not let your opponent see that, also he had no idea what to do, you cant go toe to toe with Sinner at the baseline cause he is just too good

Somebody mentioned it earlier. He needed to play the match of his life to even have a chance. I didn't see any of it, but this result couldn't have been that effort. How many more chances is he likely to get? One of the new Big 2 is likely to be in the final. He has to come ready to rumble. Maybe take a page out of Keys book and change something to level the playing field against these guys.

Maybe a new coach for starters, I think his dad has had his day, I read that Sasha wanted to hire Boris Becker, apparently Boris dosent want to travel full time now, though I have also heard that Sasha can be a lazy trainer at times

Okay, it’s not in my nature to brag but at the change of ends, 3-4 in the first, I told the missus the match is over. If you win the big points, you win the match. Your opponent might win more points and games, but lose all the big points.

When Zverev began to bleat about his rackets at the change of ends I said to the missus, he’s overreacting, he’s going to lose. She said, “You woke me up to tell me this?!”

I said: “Yes.”

Quite frankly I was 'amazed' that Novak posted his MRI scan on social media, for all the people that didnt believe he was injured. I will go back and look at it more closely when I have time, first glance I could not read it properly.all I could see was a large dark spot inside his thigh
He likes to be liked. He should have grinned wealthily and ignored them. It’s quite telling that at his best slam he got booed when he retired hurt..

Yeah, a fist pump here and there would probably help, he looked lifeless out there. He had some mini chances at the end of the 2nd set, played well, but it wasn't enough. He got outplayed from the baseline, I think he lost majority of the longer rallies.

Then he would sometimes opt for a net play, but Zverev's volley game is really bad. How many times he has upper hand in the point, comes to the net and then plays some mediocre volley only to be passed? His shot selection is also an issue, not very high tennis IQ in my opinion, you don't see Zverev outsmarting opponent almost at all.

He needs some changes in his game, variety or something, at this point, just too predictable for someone like Sinner.

I have Never Known Zverev to be Brave Full Stop! did you watch his match against Novak it took him over 80 mins to win a TB? he had heaps of BPs and he still couldnt close it, it should have not gone to a TB in the first place., Novak was subdued and not moving well for starters
He’s a male bimbo. He has zero imagination. If Thud and Thump don’t work, his handsome frown won’t, either…

Don,
Thats the reason why I feel he needs a new coach, his dad to me has had his day, like Stef and his dad.,

Did anyone start a “Kick Daddy to the Curb” thread? Take all the Tsitsipas, Zverev, Shelton (and others) discussions and move them there? It would take forever. Zeverev never had a good work ethic, hence the great coaches that have tapped out after working with him. He seems to have improved on that, but he does need a coach who can work with him. His brother and father can only get him so far.

Maybe Goran could help him with that net play, he certainly helped Novak.
