What happens on Sunday? Does Yannik defend his title? Or will Zed grab his maiden slam?

Go watch the match they played at the USO 23 qtr final ..To me it was one of the best EVER as far as shot making and ball striking speed. Zed has a chance and I will say it , he is a bad matchup for Dinner. But it is still Zed and we all know he has been a bigger choke artist than Keys ..We shall see. I'm picking Zed in five sets

I still think Zed will win a major - and if he wins one then I wouldn't rule him out winning more... just getting that first one is crucial. I don't think he gets it here though. I don't like his mental makeup and if he is to grab that first major I think he'd benefit by getting a softer opponent. He's got a chance but I'd still go with Sinner. Zed goes too passive for me - he wants to fall over the line. I think Sinner in 4 or 5.

Exactly. I am still chocked how conservative that set on the semi-final was (from both sides, actually). It seemed low intensity practice, but somehow still afraid to miss...

Who knows, maybe Zverev is inspired by Keys and finds a way. But really, I think the only way he beats Sinner in his current form is if Sinner wilts with the heat or gets a sore tummy -- which isn't impossible.

I meant shot making .. ooops great catch @kskate2
AP you really underestimate Sinners shot making ability off both wings, no I dont want to hear about Zed's wing span thank you very much :) BTW it is 2025 and not 2023, Sinner is a much better player, and Sinner is on a 20 match win streak at hard court grand slams, in saying that any player even the best, their streaks can be broken

I'm backing Zverev to win in 4, because if it goes to 5th he might as well lose it like in previous finals. Hope he learned a few things from that. Hope no passive tennis and bad net play (wishful thinking?). His serve has improved, he is averaging over 70% 1st serves and the yips on the 2nd seem to be gone.

Still it is Zed, but if he really wants that slam then he has to take it from Sinner the way Keys took it today from Saba. Sinner looked physically a little bit fragile against Rune and Shelton, not sure if it means something, but it is worth mentioning. Maybe it's just nerves, Sinner was definitely nervous against Shelton in that 1st set, but poor Ben failed to serve it out and make more of a match.

I dont know about 'Poor Ben failed to serve it out and make more of a match out of it? Shelton needs more discipline in his game for starters, his serve was below par in that match against Sinner, who has a great return of serve, Sinner dosent panic if he gets behind, when he gets to a TB always is calm cool and collected, if you watched his 2 TBs against Jarry in his first round match, I picked Sinner to win in straight sets against Ben, whose game is still a work in progress also needs attention on his return of serve,.Sinner suffered a cramp, well that is what it looked liked to me, against Shelton though Ben also has the trainer out in that match, who had a massage on his thigh, just before Sinner called the trainer...Sinner extends his H2H 5-1 over Ben

The fact that it took him 81 minutes to beat a hampered, 37-year-old Djokovic for one set I think is a bad sign for his chances over a 23-year-old world #1. Let's see how badly he really wants it. Can he play outside of his comfort zone for 4-5 hours, and leave everything on the court?

Yes, but wasn't one of the reasons because he sensed that Novak was compromised with his groin and chosen to play passive tennis?

Zverev does have it in him to be more aggressive and you never know. He could mirror Madison's approach to tennis.

We could well see the AO finish up with the two world number one's as being the runners-up.

When was the last time that happened?

We shall see Miss M .we shall see. The law of averages has to favor the fortunate if they're brave once in a while..

I have Never Known Zverev to be Brave Full Stop! did you watch his match against Novak it took him over 80 mins to win a TB? he had heaps of BPs and he still couldnt close it, it should have not gone to a TB in the first place., Novak was subdued and not moving well for starters

He played the injured Great who beat Alcaraz while injured. Did you see the MRI photo? Anyway Zverev has the winning h2h. Will he choke? Probably at some point, but he might regroup and win in 4.

No, Zverev, specifically said that he didn't sense anything wrong with Novak, until maybe the tie-break. Plus, if you play Novak easy because he says he's carrying an injury or because he's got his leg strapped, you are an idiot.

Zverev is not really given to aggressive tennis. He loves baseline, metronomic tennis. Sure, he might be able to take a page from Keys and come straight at Sinner, but that's not his usual game, whereas it IS Keys's game. She just needed the nerve to keep it up, and she did. That's why I said Zed will have to get out of his comfort zone for 4-5 hours. Even if he has a magnificent serving day, he's not going to beat Sinner from the baseline.

Interesting question, and I'm sure someone will know. I'd have to think it's been a while.

I saw the MRI, but have no idea how to read it. Zverev's wins came when Sinner was pretty young and unformed...except for the first one, with Sinner surprisingly winning on clay. You rooting for Zverev, or just thinking his fortune changes?

Quite frankly I was 'amazed' that Novak posted his MRI scan on social media, for all the people that didnt believe he was injured. I will go back and look at it more closely when I have time, first glance I could not read it properly.all I could see was a large dark spot inside his thigh
