Fonseca is hitting winners left and right. This guy has a cannon instead of a tennis racket.
Exactly. In at least two occasions Fonseca fired a forehand in the middle of the court, exactly where Etcheverry was, and he simply could not handle the sheer power of it. And this is sea level clay...

Diego Schwartzman lives to fight another day in his last professional tournament of his career, in Buenos Aires, defeating Jarry 76(10) 46 63!
The Last Dance Continues!

Zverev up next in Buenos Aires, I find it strange for Zverev to be playing on clay, then switching back to hard court for the Qatar Open in Doha?
I read that Zverev has his sights on winning RG this year, I will believe that when I see that :)

Is there any reason not to be super optimistic about Fonseca, to think he's going to be top 5? The last player that felt this "can't miss"--before turning 19--was Alcaraz. Before that...Djokovic? Maybe Del Potro in early 2007?

His back-hand looks plenty good to me - at least based on the highlights.

It is. First thing, it doesn't break down. He can rally with it all night long if he wants. But, as you saw it in the highlights, it is more than that. It is a weapon. The "problem" with his back hand is the comparison with the forehand...

I'm super optimistic about Fonseca and Tien becoming greats. It takes a very special player to do the things they're doing at 18/19. Maybe even Mensik as well.

Sinner probably qualifies as a can't miss player. (We missed out on Sinner's back half of age 18 due to the pandemic. When play returned, Sinner made the French Open a month and a half after his 19th birthday, which was the same age Tien was at the Australian Open.) Like Federer, it just took a little longer to put it all together, but once he did, he was pure dominance.

I think we all remember a few years ago having discussions where we discussed the prospects of teenagers having a say. Except for Rafa, there was twenty years of teenagers not being strong enough to score huge. Carlos ripped that script up spectacularly. Now youngsters are in with a shot again. It’s how it should be, I think, the young showing fearlessness and unfathomable hope in the face of greater experience…

His fhand to me is 'world class' and I dont say that lightly, his bhand is good, though maybe not as 'flashy' as his fhand, in my opinion
As I said to you yesterday, his technique on his shots are wonderful,he has been taught so well.,pleasure to watch him

Both Rune and Djokovic won Masters as 19 year olds. I'd say that's scoring pretty big as teenagers - or, at least, "having a say."

Young man keeps hammering and levels the match. I like these Argentina Brasil duels, makes the crowd involved a lot.

More patience now and he gets the break back of course as I type that he is looking to get broken again

Gets broken again, without winning a point. ouch. Looks rocky today.
