Emma Navarro, who lost her opportunity to go to the WTA Finals, as Krejcikova was awarded 8th spot, due to the rule of being a GS champion in 2024, which qualified Krejcikova, has decided not to go to Riyadh as an alternate, official reason, per her agent, that she hasnt fully recovered from a recent virus.

Victoria Azarenka and her coach Maxime Tchoutakion have parted ways. It would not surprise me if 2025 is the last year on tour for Azarenka, she has been plagued with injuries in 2024, which has affected her playing level, and is currently 35 years old.

Tennis Channel announces they have removed Jon Wertheim from the air indefinitely after the viral comments made on Friday ( comment from Jon about Babora's high forehead) and on social media she called him out as well.
The network also apologized to the player Barbora Krejcikova, as did Jon Wertheim
This is from Barbora Krejcikova on the matter,
During the WTA finals coverage that focused on my appearance rather than my performance. As an athlete who has dedicated herself to this sport, it was disappointing to see this type of unprofessional commentary. This isnt the first time something like this is happening in the sports world. I've chosen not to speak up, but I believe its time to address the need for respect and professionalism in sports media. These moments distract from the true essence of sport and the dedication all athletes bring to the field.

Karen Muchova has withdrawn from Czech team at the BJK Cup citing ongoing wrist problems,
Will Muchova ever be 100% fit?

I never cared for John Wertheim.. If a person shows you who they are you should believe them. Overrated as a tennis journalist and there are about 30 folks on this board that has more tennis knowledge than him.

It was very unprofessional from Wertheim as a journalist, and his comments towards Krejcikova and I am glad Krejcikova called him out,.

Nothing worth losing his job over, but in these days & times, anything can get you in trouble w/ a politically correct, snowllake society! :fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth::astonished-face::face-with-symbols-on-mouth:
Did you actually hear and read what Jon Wertheim say? like most things you jump in without knowing the context of what was said in the first place, this hasnt been the first time that a journalist ( male) has commented on a woman) the worst I remember was a horrid comment directed to Venus Williams? disgusting!
BTW leave your political thoughts out of this forum, which has No Bearing At All, what happened!

I'm sorry I missed it because like you I wasn't watching it. What exactly did he say?
According to social media, what I have read both from Jon Wertheim and then Barbora Krejcikova who called him out, I posted her comments on this post just recently,

According to Jon Wertheim, he was rehearsing for a show via Zoom when he and his co-hosts were shown a graphic ( illustration) of a player who had just competed. It showed her at an angle that exaggerated her forehead. A few moments later, I was told to frame up my zoom, I looked at the low camera angle and joked that it made my forehead resemble the photo of the player in question.Someone in the control room chimed in a I bantered back, though this was a private rehearsel, this exchange inadvertently and without context made it to live air.
Wertheim said,
" I realize I am not the victim here. It was neither professional nor charitable not reflective of the person I strive to be.I am accountable.I own this. I am sorry"

Quite frankly my thoughts are it was a very unprofessional comment to make as a tennis journalist male or female,he thought he got away with his comments, when the exchange inadvertently went to live air.I am glad that Barbora Krejcikova called him out on it!

A very confident STRONG man will continue to support a woman regardless. It takes a boy to be critical of a woman because he doesnt understand the struggle that women go through on a daily basis. Jon is a 60 year old Boy.

Saw some of that. The Banshee was all over the place. Lost easily a very winnable match and was seen crying on the changeovers. Not sure what's happening there. Lindsay decides to replace Collins in the doubs w/ Taylor and it took them awhile to get into the match. Finally pushed it to a match TB but was probably spent by the time they got there.
