I’m very disappointed and surprised by Iga. She needs that Rafa mentality of “this isn’t over yet; I can still win it no matter how desperate the scoreboard is.”
I am not, Iga was shaky in her previous match, I dont like the way she plays on grass.

I never used to like Cornet, she was a drama queen, since the AO this year I have really come to admire her and like her
Well done Alize on your match today well deserved win

Iga still has her 37 match streak win, all streaks have to come to a end at some time

Faulty towers for Iga - she really played a bad match - but that said Cornet played a very good match as she did 8 years ago when she beat Serena on the same court. Again Iga is a great player and signed autographs before leaving and also praised by Cornet. Wel done Alize Cornet.

Iga struggled in her previous match, she was all over the grass today, quite frankly I never picked her to win on grass at Wimbledon

You can say Iga played a bad match, but I like to think "you can't win them all! I had a bad day at the office!" She won 6 tourneys in a row! What else do you want' to go undefeated for the rest of the season? We all need to get over ourselves and not put those kinds of expectations on someone who some complain about her being #1 right now! It's irrational AF! :astonished-face::shushing-face::fearful-face::face-with-hand-over-mouth:

By the 4th round, there will be only 7 seeded players left, with only one or two Top 10 seeds (depending on whether or not Badosa wins today)

In some way I think you misunderstand my comments. I watch a match and compare to how the player normally plays and make conclusions from what I see. Of course I understand that it can't go on for ever but somehow you have to explain what went wrong. That's what I do when I write about a match in a Danish tennis mag. If it's one of your favorites it's a bit "traels" as we say in Danish. And today Iga played a bad match where most went wrong and where the opponent played a very solid game - but Iga did the most to sabotage herself - and she knew it.

I totally agree with your thoughts on the match , just because Iga is No 1 player, it dosent mean she will win Wimbledon for starters, people need to look at her grass results from last year? she has had a wonderful streak, she is a good player, but her lack of grass skills were exposed today by Cornet, who played a great match and deserved her win

Petra will serve to stay in the 2nd set and force a t/breaker in the 2nd set against Badosa

Iga has had a great season so far, so accessible and great spokesperson, and yes she did play a subpar match. Having said that, thrilled for Cornet, it seems she’s a veteran who’s been around forever ( Goodness I remember her as a 15 year old kid) and when your experience kicks in in the right way it’s reassuring to watch for us “ mature” tennis fans.

Badosa now is the highest ranked player left in this part of the draw, now, seeing Iga Swiatek was beaten earlier.

I haven't been able to watch any tennis yet today, but I see Iga and Coco both out. That's too bad. Also, meant to say this yesterday, and I'm sure someone did, but that Venus Williams/Jamie Murray win yesterday was a really fun match to watch.
