She's not going to be interested in my advice. I'm doing badly so far. Rublev out. Opelka out. Fritz out. I even resisted picking Davidovich Fokina, and he won! SMH.
Trying to call Grass Court warmup matches….

And now Ruud is out, and he's #1 see at Queen's. Back to the golf course.
Out because he lost or withdrew? And now Ruud is out, and he's #1 see at Queen's. Back to the golf course.
Lost. To some Brit named Ryan Peniston. Exactly...who? Babycakes just beat Evans, and they said he's the only one of the top 5 seeds to survive his first round at Queens.Out because he lost or withdrew?
It dosent surprise me with these results, some players need more adjustment than others coming off clay to play on grass.Lost. To some Brit named Ryan Peniston. Exactly...who? Babycakes just beat Evans, and they said he's the only one of the top 5 seeds to survive his first round at Queens.
Especially if they aren't all-court players to begin with. Think about all the people that lost. Are they primarily clay courters and HC?It dosent surprise me with these results, some players need more adjustment than others coming off clay to play on grass.
Take Ruud for example I am not surprised he lost, his claim to fame has always been clay, though he has had better results this year on a HCEspecially if they aren't all-court players to begin with. Think about all the people that lost. Are they primarily clay courters and HC?
Yet some of the Americans like Taylor Fritz and Brooksby have also stumbled on the grass. All these bizarre Grass court tennis results just seem par for the course every year as even seasoned grass court players struggle to get their footing. Part of the problem I think is they don’t play on the darn surface 11 months out of the year and then they find themselves in the cow pasture retrieving bullet serves and trying to adjust their movement/footwork.Especially if they aren't all-court players to begin with. But are Taylor and Brooksby grass court players? I think they are more HC. What's either best result on this stuff?Yet some of the Americans like Taylor Fritz and Brooksby have also stumbled on the grass. Are there really any grasscourt players these days? Players who tailor their game to the grass is rare, Brooksby hits the ball early on the rise, so you would think that would help on the grass, and Taylor has that 1-2 combo of the big/serve FH that been so effective for so many players on grass. But are Taylor and Brooksby grass court players? Maybe not tailor their game for grass, but definitely there are some players who will step on the grass and it's like they've been playing on it all year. And then there are some who don't feature anywhere else, but they'll bring it on the grass (Babycakes, Cough Drop, Feli, Muzz, Dreddy, Querrey to name a few). Are there really any grasscourt players these days? It's looking like Wawa will go down early here in Queens to Big Foe. Then he will have next week for practice unless he took a WC into EastbourneThese are the wild cards for Wimbledon,
L.Broady (GBR)
J.Clarke (GRR)
A.Gray (GBR)
P.Jubb (GRB)
R.Peniston (GRB)
T.Van Ruthoven (NED)
S.Wawrinka (SUI)

Well to be fair Berrettini ( sorry girls I can’t call him by your nickname LOL) is a good HC player, making the SF’s of both USO & AO. But you’re right grass court tennis can highlight your strengths and sort of hide your weakness ( again Matteo) for certain players. I always think of Milos Raonic. Feliciano Lopez was the freak Spaniard with his lefty serve, slice BH and net game who did better at Wimbledon than any other Slam.Maybe not tailor their game for grass, but definitely there are some players who will step on the grass and it's like they've been playing on it all year. I'm not expecting a man to call him that, unless they really want to.Well to be fair Berrettini ( sorry girls I can’t call him by your nickname LOL) is a good HC player, making the SF’s of both USO & AO. Querry is the prototypical American HC who can do well on grasscourt if things fall his way, so I wouldn’t be shocked if both Taylor and Reilly could still manage a good run at W.
My vent; Federer fans bemoaning the “slowing down” of grasscourt tennis would always annoy me. A genuine all court player like Novak & Rafa can benefit somewhat, but that’s more per their gifts ( movement, ROS, etc) rather than the detriment of the grasscourt game. That’s why an “aggressive” player like Tsitsipas grasscourt game sucks, he hasn’t worked on his ROS. At the same time it’s not like someone like Raonic or Berrettini is going to make the finals of Roland Garros or vice versa, Ruud or Ferrer make the finals at W.
