This is interesting...Medvedev's rant was about Stephanos' dad coaching. Which we know he does. Now, the tournament (director?) is sitting near him, along with umpire (of the Nadal match) Azeraki, who speaks Greek. They seem to be keeping a beady eye on it. Gilbert and McEnroe (P) were suggesting that there needed to be a dedicated lines person for that, rather than leaving it to the umpire.

3x set point to Meddie here on the Tsitsipas serve.

They are sitting on his head, and Tsitsipas just got a coaching warning? (3rd of the tournament, apparently?) Dumb. Or arrogant.

Medvedev gets the break, and, the way this has been going, that might be enough to take this set and the match. Meddie on fire, and Stepanos looking tired.

Meddie wins it 6-1 in the 4th. Looks strong, but the crowd is not so much on his side. Well, Rafa gets the top guy on offer.

I guess we see now why Nadal fans would prefered Tsitsipas in the final. Medvedev sealed this match way too quick, I tought after set all it's was going the distance, but Daniil said no.

To his credit, on court with Courier, Medvedev admits that the explosion doesn't help him and he loses energy for no good reason.

I think Medvedev is tough, even though he can blow up.

Daniil is such a cool dude. It's really entertaining to listen to him and such a refreshment after all the big 3 and how serious they all are most of the time.

He is rather hilarious in his frankness. But when he really puts his black hat on and abuses the umpire, or slags his opponent, it's not so amusing.

Yes Medvedev could've handled it better i agree, but even so, why didn't the umpire pick up on Tsitsipas father coaching a lot sooner?
My commies on ESPN made a good point, which is that the umpire has plenty to worry about on the court. They should assign a separate lines person for it, especially now that the lines are being called by the computer. Give someone a job!

A rematch of 2019 U S Open - a five setter won by Nadal on that occasion.
Will the australian final also go the distance?
One things for sure, I agree with MOX that Nadal needs to flatten his forehand a lot more, not to hit loopy ones or be passive with it.

I just read above what happened. No wonder Daniil was pissed off for coaching that greek gets like all the time, every match. It's ridiculous, this is semis of the slam they are playing and his daddy is giving him little advices. I would probably throw a racket one to the daddy and another one to the greek. Screw them.

or strategically have courtside observers near the coach boxes to monitor for any signals and report back to the chair UMP.

Yes not good look for the sport for this to be happening. The ITF and the GS associations should clamp down on it ASAP.

Hey MOX, over here Channel 9 is replaying Nadal-Berrettini semi from 2 games all , 4th set.

LOL I knew very well Nadal was a huge favourite to win this, earlier on the chat, i was just stirring as i seemed to be the only one supporting Matteo.
