Matteo to win and in so doing, giving the sport a much needed shot in the arm.

Certainly this year's championships is one of the more mediocre ones i've seen in near 43 years i been a tennis fan.

Italy to win the EURO. Yeah i'm aussie but i have more than a drop of italian blood running in my veins.

FORZA ITALIA !
Benvenuto in un altro Italiano Vince!

Ahh yes he is. I can see Matt becoming an all time great and he the way he plays the game he can adapt to all surfaces, but as you know, a lot depends on what goes on between the ears.

Can i just add, it's a disgrace that none of the main networks are showing the EURO final here this year.

That's always been the case with NG'rs over the last decade or so! Plenty of players have ability to beat "the big 3," but they haven't been very successful due to their own mental shortcomings and nerves! How many times are Fedalovic on the ropes only to escape due to their opponents collapsing both physcially and mentally with rampant UFE's, double faults, and ranting at their teams in the stands? Djokovic was the most vulnerable at one time allowing Murray and Wawrinka to steal a few of his championships, but it was a rare occurance; esp. for Fedal! I'd welcome the next gen. to exert itself and to start winning more! Taking a few Masters is only the beginning of the "changing of the guard!" They have to start winning majors; a lot more than the 1 USO Thiem was gifted!

Here is how I expect the match to proceed:

1st Set: Novak is seasoned playing his 30th final. Babycake is playing first final and he may need more time to settle in. That should be enough for Novak to get a break and win the first set with a score of line of 6-4 or 6-3.

2nd Set: After donating the first set, Matteo will tighten the ship. With the first set in bag, Novak will take the foot off the pedal (not the classic walkabout which he often does) and this combination should be good enough to give Matteo a win with a scoreline of 6-4 or 7-5. Even though it is going to be a one break win, there will be three breaks of serve in this set.

3rd Set: Now Novak will realize that opponent is not going to just give and he needs to go out and get it. This will be the most interesting and tightly contested set. Novak will eventually win this set with a score of line of 7-5 or in a tie-breaker even though Matteo will also play really good.

4th Set: Now that Matteo will be dejected, he will go for more on his second serve and do some dfs. He would generally play out of his comfort zone and lose the set fairly quickly. A two break win for Novak with a scoreline of 6-3 or 6-2.

Being the best returner, I would suggest to Novak to elect to receive if he wins the toss. At the beginning of the match, Matteo is likely to be more nervous and this strategy might actually give him an early break.

When I played tournaments, I always chose to receive so I could get that early break! I would attack, chip and charge before the person got warmed up! It was rather easy to get an early lead no matter how good the player was! It works at all levels of play obviously! :-)2

I cant see how would so big man with many kg won in 5 sets. When was that last time ? You can hardly win against Djoker that way. So i voted for Djoker in 4.

Asderaki was very good at that finale Nole-Fed. She corrected all bad calls without even checking hawkeye. Hope Cacic would be good.

I’m torn between possibly seeing a Calendar Slam achieved and wanting Berrettini to win. I’m leaning toward Babycakes winning though, so that hopefully the younger generation sees it is possible to win against Djokovic.

Djokovic is much more likely to lose in USO than here, but we shall see. Hoping for a good competitive match.

Well if Babycakes took in that Shapo-Djoko match, he should know if Djokovic gifts you, don’t return it.

The umpire's voice goes right through you. Ugh.
