The good news is he's only 19. The bad news is he's only 19.

IOW, being that young "overplaying" is probably a foreign concept to Sinner, reserved for the creaking senior citizens of the tour.
Yes but he does not need to get a serious back injury at age 19....I am a mother hen just trying to safeguard his future ;)

Aslan Karatsev isn’t through announcing his prescense. At 27 years young.

Beat Sinner 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the SF’s at Dubai. Nice to see his AO breakthrough has given him added confidence.

Just to show that Sinner isn’t the only young Italian rising, 19 year old Musetti ( he of the glorious 1H backhand) has come through qualifying, has now beat veterans Diego Schwatzman and Frances Tiafoe back to back to reach his first ATP 500 QF’s In Acapulco. On a HC. Plays another pretty BH in Dimitrov. Hoping for a nice match.

I was going to mention Musetti. He's barely 19, and had some good wins in Rome last year, too, beating Stan and Kei back to back. I hope he beats Dimitrov. Of note, Grigor is nearly 11 years older!

Damn, that was a butt ugly service game by Felix AA, consecutive DF's to get broken at 3-4 in the 3rd, losing 5-7,6-4, 3-6 to Tsitsipas. However it was high quality match , though FAA needs to start winning some of these versus top players.

Both players had glorious moments and also some head scratching muffed shots.

After missing out on 6 MP’s the kid Musetti prevails 6-4, 7-6 on a beautifully played final point Over Dimitrov.

The kid has beautiful court movement , and some of his drop shots are works of art and now he gets to his first ATP 500 SF.

So for the finals of the ATP 500 Dubai we have a Wildcard and the qualifier. (Sounds like the title of a movie comedy)

South African Qualifier Harris squeaks by Shapavolov 6-7,6-4. 7-6(6) and Karatsev bests #2 Rublev 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. From qualifying for the AO Kartatsev if he wins the final would crack the top 25. Talk about meteoric....

do you think he waited to see what nadal was doing ?.:thinking-face:
i mean the covid restrictions are not a new thing at miami that suddenly sprung up out of nowhere.
I don't think so,he has to travel from MC to Miami, maybe he just wants to spend more time with his family.,which he did state itwas one of the reasons he withdrew from Miami.I feel if IW was not cancelled Novak would have played both tournaments,if Rafa's back had improved I think he would have travelled to play IW and Miami as well.

Inadvertently, Miami sort of has become an outlier, the lone US tournament in the midst of the Pandemic right before the clay court season in Europe.

I'm thinking somebody is going to break through in Miami so there is a golden opportunity looming there..

Christopher Clarey just tweeted Miami Masters 1000 is turning into ATP 250:)

Withdrawls ( so far yes I am being coy again).
Djokovic,Nadal,Theim,Federer,Monfils,Carreno Busta,Wawrinka,Coric,Krajinovic,Pella,Gasquet,Kyrgios,Davidovich Fokina,Andujar,Edmund,Tsonga,Simon,Cuevas,Gasquet.
I couldn't decided between giving you a "wow" and a "LOL." ;) Next post will have to be ranked players that are actually going to play it.

I think this is the answer (re: Djokovic, particularly @JesuslookslikeBorg.) Without IW, Miami became too much trouble for many, but you're very right about a land of opportunity. I actually can't wait to see the draw and play the draw challenge. Could be VERY interesting....
