Very impressive SF's for the ladies even if both end in straight sets! The ebb and flow of each has been something to see! In the old days it seemed to be hard to close a match since women broke easier than they could hold! This is happening on both sides of the tours of late! Closing out a match isn't so simple! Gabby has match point! Update : She did it! It was incredible! Gabby going for a 3rd major!

Great win for Muguruza! But obviously a great match from both ladies. Muguruza setting up the break with a really solid hold after getting the break back at 5-5.

Two semifinals. Both with a score of 7-6 7-5.

Muguruza into her first hard court slam final. After her first year since 2013 without making a slam QF she starts the year off with a shot at her third slam. Tough year last year. Struggled with her form and confidence in addition to struggling with an injury or two.

Definitely didn't see her doing it at the start of the tournament. But just goes to show how dangerous she always is.

Tough day for Halep. Played well. Played better for stretches of the match. But Muguruza found the goods to come back when she needed to.

She could not convert her chances,Garbines's credit she hung tough and deserved to win the match
To me that was a Battle Royale,especially under the insane heat conditions on court.
