Hey hey! Good win for Kenin. I fell asleep before it ever started. I was exhausted all day. These late nights getting to me. But I'm back up after a nap and will have no issue watching Halep/Muguruza. May need another nap before Djokovic/Federer.

Kenin winning this match is not a surprise. Barty was the favorite. I wasn't sure Kenin would actually pull it off. But I remember her playing Barty tough at the French. But Barty was always gonna have the nerves of trying to be the first Aussie to make this final in ages. And we've seen her get close but be unable to finish the job. And Brad Gilbert made a good point that Barty was down against Anisimova at the French and came back and won that one before going on to the final. So against Riske at Wimbledon lost a tight one. Lost a not so tight one to Wang at the US Open, who has not showed us why she was able to do that. Kenin better than both of those ladies. Obviously I can't say I saw this coming. And I'm sad I missed it.

Good for Kenin. Had a good run at the French last year, beating Serena before falling to Barty. Lost a 3 setter to Yastremska at Wimbledon early. And lost to Keys in the 3rd round at the US Open. Nice slice of the draw for her here after Serena and Osaka went down. She completely deserves this.

Wow i DID NOT see that coming at all. Not to take anything away from the young american but Barty looked very tight when she had held 2 set points and service break leads. The australian press here are over-hyping the tennis , in particular pointing out that Ashleigh would be the first australian to win since... Maybe all that pressure got to her.

Checking the scores. WTH happened to Ash? :face-with-symbols-on-mouth:

Gone.... But they should have played the game WITH THE ROOF SHUT. It's 40 degrees there and here (Adelaide) now. Can't play or expect to see magnificent tennis in these conditions.

She left her game on the court after the Kvitova match I am afraid.
Kenin deserved her win.I am still in shock

I don't want this to seem like i'm taking anything away from the young american who deserves to be the final but she looks like she's GOT NOTHIN' ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to her game ! Ash lost the match rather than Sofia winning it.

They were suppose to shut the roof if Ash match went to 3 sets? outside court matches are suspended.

That's her strength though. Her game is very unsuspecting. But quietly she has a good serve, solid groundies and exceptional movement. Nothing flashy. You have to beat her. She will rarely if ever beat herself.

I have to say Kenin played the big points better.

That's what it seem to me and she also wisely chose her moments to move forward to the net and finish off the points with winning vollies.

I was just blogging about this phenomenon of disappearing leads in sports; esp. tennis when someone's serving for the match! There's a reason they say "don't give up" because so many are willing to choke their guts out! Even though from The States, I was rooting for Ashley! Like Britain with Murray, I wasn't going to begrudge Australia "that bone!" Sir AM has done a lot more by taking a 2nd and 3rd major along with 2 OGM's! They've gotten close "down under," but no cigar! It's so unfortunate!

Roof shoul've been closed BEFORE each of the semifinals, not DURING it. Ridiculous to be playing tennis or any sports where the temp was near 40 degrees. Now if it's true waht they're saying about climate change especially here, it makes sense to move the AO to april date and BO3 men and women matches, period.
