you should know better, different opponent will bring different game. Wawrinka can beat Djokovic no matter what form Djoker brings, there is such a thing called matchups, and Thiem playing his A game has a lot of resemblence of Stanimal. He has beaten Djoker 4 out of the last 5 matches, while Nadal has been owned for how many years now? For you to relate Thiem based on Nadal's results show severe lack of comprehension.
Vince didn't compare them, he only said if Novak plays to that level, which was in fact very high. None of his occasional walkabouts or letdowns. (Not that there was really time.)

I don't think guys look at a lower league for inspiration. I have never heard a ATP player referring to any WTA champion as his idol/inspiration. It takes a whole lot different level more to compete and win a men's title.

Many atp players including Federer, Murray have said how Serena is an inspiration and what a fighter/competitor/athlete/player she is.

Don’t infer yourself from others you faggot

You are disgusting.

Theim’s 3rd Major final.

Other than Wawrinka & Cilic, cant think if any other players outside the old big 4 (Murray) that have done this in the past 15 years.

15 years sort of includes Roddick (his last final was W 2009). Soderling made two.

I have no doubt that Thiem is playing good enough tennis to have a very decent shot at beating Djokovic in this court... but it is a major final, it is impossible not to let this affect you to some extent. But one thing I liked from Thiem's on court interview, he remembered that he played Nadal at the RG final twice, now Djokovic at AO... I mean, the guy had the almost worst possible package. If he gets in the "it is me against all odds spirit", it might work.

You ‘promised ‘ then immediately asked for her response? I told your momma to teach you a thing or two about how to behave like a man.

Unfortunately for Nadal, his game at AO can’t do the damage the way Stanimal or potentially Thiem can.....he just can’t finish him, and then he needs to engage in nonstop long rallies which Djoker loves, as he has slightly better offence/defence package over there! Stanimal does not allow Djoker to get comfy like that, and I think Thiem has the ability too.

I know you're talking about recent years, but here are some stats.

Number of players in the Open Era with at least three Slam finals: 38

Active players with at least three Slam finals: 7 (Federer 31, Nadal 27, Djokovic 26, Murray 11, Wawrinka 4, Cilic 3, Thiem 3)

Players with 3+ Slam finals and no titles: 1 (Tony Roche 3)

So you're right, no one else has done it recently - not Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Nishikori, Raonic, all of whom only reached one Final (so far). Kevin Anderson reached two, as did del Potro.

From Roger's generation, Ferrero reached 3 finals, Hewitt and Safin 4 each, Roddick 5. Going back a bit further, you have players like Kuerten, Kafelnikov, Rafter, Bruguera, Ivanisevic, Chang, etc, reaching 3+.

Stanimal has been to 4 winning 3 and you can add Medvedev's 1

Yes but ND is actually better player than 2013, 2014 of which you are basing your comparison to. I suppose winning 4 of their previous five matches vs ND will be a confidence builder for Thiem but if (and it's a big 'If' ) the match turns into a 4 or 5 setter, Thiem will run out of gas having had to play longer matches. For sure i hope he can win but i don't see how especially on that court surface.

I'll go with Thiem cos I think he's in Djokovic's head like Stanimal. He can't handle the power if Thiem plays well. Seems like a man on a mission all tournament. A lot will hang on how well both serve too, obviously enough.

I really enjoy watching Thiem crushing groundies off both wings. He's fit, hungry and tenacious. Watching Novak serve during this fortnight, it seems Goran has been a real help. I still get concerned with the lack of depth on Djoker's groundstrokes. This could be a war. I picked Novak in 4, but would not be surprised if Thiem wins this.

Same here! I can live with either winning! I won't be a hypocrite and blindly support Djokovic when we need this NG to do more than make an impression! The "Lost Generation" moniker was invoked while watching the SF and we don't want the same to happen to Thiem, Zverev, & the rest! Time may have passed for Raonic, Kei, & Dimitrov. with Cilic getting to a few finals winning 1 major! Wawrinka and Murray probably would have more than 3 each but for Fedalovic! Historians will have to deal with it later seeing these 3 players names winning just about every major event for almost 20 years! In the Open era, this is unprecedented dominance that may never be matched again; certainly not in my lifetime! :thinking-face:
