Like others have said before: Thiem has to improved his serve. He has a good serve but it is too erratic!
Also, his return of serve is average. He needs to improve that shot tremendously especially on the hardcourts.

As for Thiem, tremendous tournament for him. Nothing to be shame about. He just needs to improve some of his shots and he will win a slam soon enough.
This isn’t exactly a morale booster for Theim’s RG chances.

It is a hard loss for sure, but given he hasn’t been anywhere near to a final here and how he played before the AO; I doubt even he thought he would be in this position. He fought until the end which is better than what most do against Novak. Hopefully, fortune favors him at Roland Garros. He definitely is almost there. If you are his team what you take from this is: work on developing that serve better.
