And she closes out with a strong hold. Good serving. Gets it done. She does what Kerber can't. Makes the third round. Had to fight hard. Had to find her best form again. It's getting harder as she gets older. But for at least today she's able to summon it up. Good run for the qualifier. Throws her name into the ring as one of the youngsters to watch.

Serena did some great problem solving though. And mostly in relation to her game. Knew she needed to fix her footwork. Knew she needed to get the serve going. Figured it all out. Tune up win. But she'll need to keep these dips to a minimum going forward. The competition isn't going to get any easier.

Bencic dispatches Kanepi with ease. Lost just 4 games.

So the ladies done for the day. Third round set. Goerges did her part to get to Serena. Rematch of the semi from last year. Hoping for the same result. Serena won easily in straights. And Goerges has not had a great year. But after today, I can see Goerges challenging Serena a good bit. If she serves well, Serena will have to have her serve as well.

Bencic/Riske should be fun.
Barty/Dart may get Centre Court because of Dart. CSN with a big opportunity against Davis. But the reverse is also true.

Stephens/Konta.
Kvitova always vulnerable to her own errors.
Bertens/Strycova could get ugly if Bertens just over powers her. But if Strycova can use the court to her advantage, could be a good match.

Yeah, they did the same to that girl that made it to the QF of the USO one year with her unique shoes. It's been so long since she made her splash that I've forgotten her name now. But she didn't do anything after that. In fact, I don't even think she's playing anymore.

Didn't they also tout CC Bellis I think was her name,I think she has had a lot of injuries,do not know what she is up to these days, sorry I am watching Rafa's match.

Oh that's a fun fact. The last American woman to beat the defending champion at Wimbledon, not named Serena or Venus, was Davenport back in 1999. I mean. It's not that big of a deal. And it actually makes sense that it was 20 years ago. There have only been 20 defending champions and it was often Venus or Serena and they often defended the title. Of course, Davenport went on to win that title. Davis, a lucky loser, is not going to do that. But, it's all gravy from here for her. A huge win for her today though. Haven't seen too much good out of her recently. In a few years I feel like actually. So good for her. She'll get some nice ranking points.

(WIKI)Oudin went on to win the Mixed Doubles title at the US Open alongside Jack Sock in 2011, and then won her first WTA title at the Aegon Classic in 2012.Melanie Oudin was plagued by series of injuries and a heart arrhythmia that kept her from returning to the level that she once reached. Oudin ultimately made the decision to retire from professional tennis exactly eight years after her historic run on Arthur Ashe in 2009.

Oudin's Mom had an affair with her coach and that took a lot of personal and emotional tool on her as well.

Looking at the women's draw I have liked the way Azarenka has been playing,Halep's game really is not suited to grass, she has beaten Azarenka at Wimbledon, two years ago.....Azarenka has been building her game and I feel she can defeat Halep.

I also feel Coco can defeat Hercog, who has the most tatoo's I have ever seen on a women's tennis player:)

Hsieh could give Karolina Pliskova some trouble, though I feel Pliskova will win.

Last but not least..........Drum Roll The Famous Mixed Doubles "Ser Andy' take on A.Mies(Ger)/A.Guarachi (CHI)

Venus Williams and Frances Tiafoe take on S.Clayton(GBR)/S.Grey(GBR) we need to name this team btw:)

Yastremka takes out Golubic to reach R16. She has a really bad habit forming that she needs to remedy immediately. I've noticed in just about every match where she was in a losing position, she has called an MTO. She turned those matches around and eventually won it.
