I prefer the devil you know. I am not liking the Med-Rodge match up, if that happens...

One at a time, I have a bad feeling about tonight for some reason. Will life and death tournament affect Roger positively or negatively?

There is only one player left in the draw with even a 1% chance of beating Nadal. And if Nadal wins this tournament his career is looking like shit very soon. Can't let Dimitrov or Medvedev ruin his career simple as that.

On the contrary, I am not at all worried about Med playing Fed. People often see one match and then think that the next one will play out the same way. The variety that Roger has will be difficult to deal with for Med.

Not only in this thread, but in my "racquet bracket" entry at tennis channel, I picked Stan to beat Novak, Med to beat Stan and Fed to beat Med. :dance2:

Unfortunately, my picks in the second half were horrible. My two semifinalists from the second half were FAA and Khachanov.

I am also a bit concerned about a potential Fed vs Medvedev match. Medvedev will most likely try to overpower him, and if he doesn’t shank his shots, then he could take out Fed.

Not one match bro, I have been watching the guy all summer. He is a cerebral player with amazing speed and court coverage and he reminds me of a young Murray and how he used to drive Roger insane and force him to make errors. On top of that , this guy has a very unorthodox style and he adapts to situations pretty easily. Attacks if he chooses to. With Roger, his strategy would be to get every ball back and can Roger take enough time from him to move him off the court, that is the question I do not have an answer to.
To me, for some reason , Rafa seems like a more difficult match up for Medvedev than Roger but I may be way off.

Even though Medvedev is tired and seems to be a little injured, I still fancy his chances against Federer much more than Wawrinka. Wawrinka would have choked and played horrible against Federer yet again, but I know that Medvedev would actually play solidly and have a chance to beat Federer...
and therefore save humanity...

Feeling a bit scared are we? Yes, clearly Federer poses much more of a threat to beat Nadal and it will indeed be a tough match for Roger.

Medvedev is getting by on adrenaline. He's really proven himself to be the best of the next gen by a country mile. Final of Washington, back to back masters finals, winning Cinci and now the semis of the USO. Beast mode. Frustrating player to play against.

I said a lot of kids would have trouble and get knocked out early! Where are my kudos? Duh! :nono: :banghead: :cuckoo:
You said that about many kids, sure, but also specially about Medvedev, once he won Cincy. You thought he will not be any different than most of the youngsters, who cannot back up a good run. Daniil definitely can, because he has more variety than the others and mentally much tougher. He developed in leaps in the last year or so.

I really think his game is more suited to a faster court, after watching him in Montreal

I with you bro. Right now I'm never comfortable with Roger's matches! I feel good about his chances if he gets to the final, it's the journey that freaks me out :D

Totally agree. We have been waiting for a real breakthrough for the last 4-5 years or so.
Zverev was the fake one, 3 set specialist truly, and now, as soon as mental issues rose, he is doomed.
Daniil proved to be able to play well in both 3 and 5 setters, he may not win this slam, but watch out for him next year.

100%. Maybe it's the fact it's USO, or the fact the pressure goes up significantly tonight now that Djoker is out. Anyways I think he used the importance of Wimbledon to his advantage, he played with a real sense of urgency near the business end, just choked against a guy he's choked against a ton in the past. If he uses it as a positive again he wins this tourney. If it gets to him he will be bounced before the final.

Fully rested and healed up he may be an absolute beast on the AO courts now that they've been sped up. The GOAT race got a lot more interesting with him now in the mix to potentially deny the top guys their chance at glory.
