All in all, I am relieved that he won in three sets AND he is injury free at the end of the night :)

Two more matches and six more sets, ladies! :good:
Your fingers to the tennis gods' ears. I sweated a bit on my lucky shirt tonight, but that just makes it all the luckier. I'd ask my Magic 8 ball, but it's kind of a lying bastard and I don't trust it. :lol6: Have a good night, all!

Great win by a great human being.

Greatdal.
In fact, the Nobel Prize committee is trying to get you on the phone to write the citation for Rafa's Peace Prize, but it seems your phone is off the hook. You might want to check that.

Well done nadal on getting to 7 grand slam semi finals in a row, but wow that match was painfully, my only joy was in the 3rd set, I can chill and watch the other semi final now.:yahoo:

My least favorite type of Nadal matches is playing on hards against the likes of Diego, Nishikori, Simon, etc... even Ferrer and obviously Davydenko. They're not exactly the same type of players (some play radically differently in fact), but they all move so well and can rally with Nadal, and they really annoy him once they take the ball very early (Davydenko is a master and he naturally takes it super early so he really was a bad match-up for Rafa). So this whole fiasco doesn't surprise me. In fact, I expected it. Wouldn't put too much stock in it though.

Why not? The opponents are too weak. He can play like crap and will still win.

I am with 'colm' now :) agree with Broken's post beforehand in this match....I knew deep down Shorty could and would give Rafa 'fits' on a HC,though I knew deep down Rafa would come through,I was just letting off some steam during the match.. Did pick Rafa to win in straight sets.

I guess you watched it. But I think it's a tough assessment. Sometimes I think when players are at a reasonably comparable level, and at a comparable level of stress, due to what they're up against, you get a competitive and entertaining match. You are a harsh critic, but most of us enjoyed watching it. Haters gonna hate, right?

Yes, and when I am in a bad mood, I can guarantee you I am the biggest hater ever.

Just watched highlights and poor Schwartzman played so well the first 2 sets and both sets he lost on a really lame error. Shame he couldn't at least get them to tiebreakers.

3hr plus for a straight sets win ?..not even a tb. yikes.
You think "yikes!?" You should have been a Nadal fan watching it. It was brutal. Everyone opened their bars and medicine cabinets and took to their fainting couches. But it's over, so that's a relief.
