I'd think people should expect this to be hard. Just that Schwartzman won't win a set, I don't think.Specifically on hards, this match up reminds me a bit of the Ferrer Nadal match up. I really can see Schwartzman causing trouble to Nadal here, as he loves to take the ball on the rise. One thing that hurt Cilic yesterday is that the really lacked intensity in the begging of the third -- and thus got rolled over. Schwartzman would not do that, but on the other hands his chance of taking a set from Nadal are smaller than Cilic's... so he may never get that kind of momentum. Having said that, Schwartzman had a better year than Cilic, so he poses a bigger threat. I think this can turn out to be way harder than people are expecting.
Personally, I think it will be a combo-platter. Nadal will look to dictate with the serve and not get into too many rallies. But he also likes a toe-to-toe and will get into them. If he sticks with the game plan, he'll win in 3, even though they'll be long, IMO. If he allows himself to fall back and rally to much, Schwartzman could slip in a set.The first few games will determine on how the match will go...if they are doing a lot of rallies early on, then it will be a long and "difficult" match.
However, if Nadal is able to dictate points and be aggressive, then it will be over in 3 sets (4,6,5).
He's in the match, so he has a chance. Not a huge one. My hope is that Rafa doesn't let Diego run him ragged in the humidity. No one's posting on this match so no one's giving Schwartzman a chance! I gave Grigor a chance; will have to do the same for Diego!
